The term is quickly spreading as a meme and spam comment or copypasta on TikTok, and it has the "Yo: Gurt" meme to thank for it.

What Does 'Kevin' Mean On TikTok?

The slang term "Kevin" was coined by TikToker @druskidrinker on April 17th, 2025. In his video, which went on to garner over 2.4 million views in under a week, he defines "Kevin" as "anything bad" and even gives an example of its use. The example reads, "Yo bro this food is Kevin asf."

The video itself is a play on the "Gurt: Yo" meme, which has popularized a trend on TikTok in which users share ironic new slang terms. While these terms are largely meant to be jokes, some of them, like "Kevin" and "IKIAB," have taken off across the app.

How Is 'Kevin' Used On TikTok?

The term is being used as a way of calling something "bad," fitting the definition laid out by the TikToker. Mostly, people are commenting with it under TikTokers' videos, further spreading the term each time.

"Kevin" has also inspired some similar attempts at slang terms based on people's names. One video coins the names "Owen" as meaning "Something good," the name "James" as meaning "Something mid," and the name "Samuel" as meaning "Real."
