And the meme of June 2022 goes to…

It's mid-2022, and, let's be honest, it's about time we humans blessing kind internet strangers with our memes stopped this ungrateful toil and let the robots do the job. Weren't we promised that in the future enterntainment will be randomly generated? Well, the solution is finally at hand. What makes image-generation model DALL-E mini especially great for making memes is its inherent inability to produce images that are actually photorealistic, and watching its half-baked attempts to produce a RGB gamer guillotine gives that perfect feel of poorly-cropped and naturally fried memes that were screenshot and cropped at least a dozen of times before you saw them. Well-deserved first place with 44 percent of votes.

Terrified Noot Noot

Animator Telepurte is no stranger to internet funnies, and more than one of his videos made it into memes in one form or another. Terrified Noot Noot, however, reached some new levels of virality, with Pingu's stare of absolute dejection and terror becoming one of the most popular reaction formats to hit first TikTok, and then everywhere else this month. With 13 percent of the votes, Pingu's nightmares easily snag the second place on our list.

AI-Generated Greentexts

And now for more robot domination: in the third place with nine percent of your votes sits even more AI-made entertainment in AI-Generated Greentexts. Answering the question, "what if a robot tried to write 4chan greentexts?" and getting an A+ on it, greentexts written by the GPT-3 language model not only surprisingly funny, but are often indistinuguishable from those made by humans. And who can forget the Bottomless Pit Supervisor, an instant internet classic.

Barbie (2023)

2022 is shaping up to be a great year for movie memes, but with a twist: the memes are no longer based on actual movies. Rather, they are about the movies and going to them and don't even require you to watch the film itself (looking at you, Morbius). Barbie, which is still about a year away from release, is a perfect example: fueled by leaks, same-day release with Oppenheimer and by sigma male icon Ryan Gosling playing Ken, Barbie became an amalgamation of memes of all kinds: captions, Whisper memes and sigma males speculating whether or not they will be getting tickets to Barbie and downloading Gosling's new personality. Five percent of your votes lands Barbie the fourth place on the list.

Lechonk

With a name that could be a product of a 2010 Redditor meeting a 2015 Redditor, pig Pokémon Lechonk instantly stole the hearts of Pokémon trainers worldwide. It's chonky, it's cute and it has a goofy aah name – what else do you need for a pokemon to be likable? Five percent of your votes, fifth place and honorable shoutouts to Smoliv and Professors Sada and Turo.

Not every meme is destined for greatness, but among those who didn't manage to make it to top five this month are contenders that could definitely have put a better fight against weaker opponents. In places six to twelve, we have the clussy of the month in Geiru Toneido from Ace Attorney (4%), a bussin parody trend in Zoomerification (4%), a mildly muscular women who thinks she's a God and her many redraws (4%), a recenly homeless (by no fault of her own) Japanese woman in Ouhhh… Husbant… (4%), a fine dining place in Binley Mega Chippy (3%), a surprising crossover between Belle Delphine and Twomad (3%) and a red flag alert system in She's a 10 But (2%).

Thank you for voting and see you next month!
