See The Winner Of June 2023's Meme Of The Month!
And the meme of June 2023 goes to…
All-in-all a viral take on the ultrashort horror film genre, Grimace Shake Trend had people getting the titular Grimace Shake from McDonald's, trying it and then dying in a gruesome fashion. The chase for the best punchline had users coming up with fake deaths that were scary and inventive, and TikTokers really let themselves shine, while Twitter artists soon picked up their pens and forced their favs and OCs through the same fate. Happy birthday, Grimace, you get first place with 23 percent of the votes.

OceanGate Titanic Submarine Incident
It's hard to remember the last time a headline about a disastrous situation grasped the entire world's attention so firmly as the news of OceanGate Titan, a small tourist submersible which disappeared during its descent to the wreck of Titanic. The entire world watched closely as a massive search operation was carried out for a group of five millionaire tourists aboard the submarine, and the entire world posted about it – some sending prayers, many more posting memes, and the stepson of one British billionaire on board going to a Blink-182 concert and being racist on Twitter. The four-day build-up ended with everyone ultimately learning that there was zero chance of rescue in the first place, but the memes about the sub being operated with a Logitech controller and the orcas being at it again are here to stay forever. Second place with 20 percent of your votes.
Sacabambaspis
In the third place with 16 percent of total votes, we have the barely pronounceable comic relief of the month, Sacabambaspis. The goofy ahh prehistoric fish straight from the Ordovician period won people's hearts thanks to its permanently derpy expression (do people still say derpy?) and inspired lots of cutesy memery. A big win for both wholesome fan art appreciators and prehistoric fish enthusiasts.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse
Wrapping up our top five for the month of June are the many meme formats from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse. Starting with memes that preceded the premiere (Are These Your Drawings, Miles Morales Running), continuing with bangers such as Canon Events and Shocked Miles Morales and even breathing new life into memes from the first film, it's safe to declare that Across the Spider-verse fans went above and beyond to shake up the memescape. The sheer number of memes spawned by a movie could have landed it in the first spot some other month, but with all the tough competition around, it's only fifth place with 11 percent of the votes for Spidey.
Our ranking wouldn't be complete without giving a heartfelt shoutout to memes that didn't have the juice to reach the top five but left a big imprint on the internet culture nonetheless. Here we have the aroused with a tinge of brain disfunction Plap Plap Get Pregnant (4%), the smug, Austrian and non-appreciative Smugler (4%), a crazy one locked in a room, a rubber room with rats (3%), the sbeve-type findings in the name of the Pride Month, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg planning a showdown at the UFC (1%), the pro-libation Give Me One Margarita I'mma Open My Legs (1%), the Big Smoke-worthy order of 55 burgers, 55 fries, 55 tacos and 55 pies (1%), and the rizzed-up rizz king Baby Gronk (1%).
