About

Miles Morales Running From Miguel O'Hara is an animated redraw meme that comes from a scene in the second trailer for the 2023 film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Origin

The original scene comes from the second trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which was posted to YouTube on April 4th, 2023.[1] In the trailer, Miles Morales, as Spider-Man, runs away from another Spider-Man named Miguel O'Hara (shown below).

An 8-frame gif of the scene was made by Twitter user DIEGUTAN and posted later that day (shown below) where it received over 5,300 likes and over 600 retweets in over four days.[2] The gif was reposted even later that day in another tweet by Twitter user milesandshi, where it received over 25,000 likes and over 3,700 retweets in over four days.[3]

On April 5th, 2023, Twitter user mocndu reposted the animated gif along with the text "what two characters do i draw over this gif it’s literally 8 frames i can do it".[4] The Tweet (shown below) received over 20,000 likes and over 900 retweets in over two days.

Spread

The tweet quickly inspired others on Twitter to post animations over the GIF. On April 6th, user @alien_bottle posted a redraw of the GIF using Jojo's Bizarre Adventure characters, gaining over 5,200 retweets and 27,000 likes (shown below, top). The same day, user @Moonbase10 posted a redraw using characters from The Owl House, gaining over 2,400 retweets and 16,000 likes (shown below, bottom).
