Plap Plap Get Pregnant is a copypasta Twitter trend in which users post an image of a character from a given fandom and repeatedly write the word "PLAP," an onomatopoeia for sex noises, followed by repeatedly writing "GET PREGNANT," expressing a desire to impregnate the character. The trend was popularized on Twitter in late May 2023 as users applied the copypasta to images both genuine and ironic.

Origin

While the terms "plap" and "get pregnant" have been used together in posts online as early as 2020 on sites like 4chan,^[1] a specific copypasta consisting of the word "plap" repeated numerous times, followed by "GET PREGNANT" repeated numerous times, was first posted by Twitter^[2] user @KawaiiiDisaster on May 13th, 2023, under an NSFW image. Later that day, Twitter^[3] user @hitlercunnyrape posted a screenshot of the copypasta pasted into a program that estimates an author's IQ based on their writing, garnering over 4,200 likes in two weeks (shown below).

On May 25th, Twitter^[4] user @MelusineFren made a post using the copypasta along with a cropped hentai image of the character Melusine from Fate: Grand Order and Ritsuke Fujimaru, garnering over 500 likes in five days. This began the trend of using the copypasta over character images (shown below).

Spread

The trend spread on Twitter over the following week, with the copypasta often applied to anime and loli images.^[5] It also inspired more ironic examples. On May 28th, 2023, Twitter^[6][7] users @DAT1GYDOTMP4 and @dodoriagotbands posted the copypasta over images of Friday Night Funkin's protagonist Boyfriend in Girlfriend's dress and a McChicken sandwich, garnering over 500 likes and 3,500 likes, respectively, in two days (shown below, left and right).

As the trend continued to spread, some also made posts criticizing it. For example, on May 28th, Twitter^[8] user @ThatOne_Kid39 posted screenshots of four posts using the copypasta, writing, "this 'plap plap get pregnant' shit isn’t even funny, it’s just weird," garnering over 3,200 likes in two days. On May 29th, Twitter^[9] user @g_norm_us posted an image of Chris Griffin from Family Guy criticizing the meme, garnering over 2,900 likes in a day (shown below).
