General idea of how the character should look like: Long brown haired vaguely androgynous adult with glasses and one of these birds on their shoulder at all times
Role: Hailing from Detroit, the pun master and bird nerd, she's the assistant at the computer lab, and focuses her studies on blind/VI accessibility. Secretly, deep down she knows that she loves Supertramp, but is ashamed to admit it. She and her bird, "punk master ion" go and smoke weed everyday. Undatable.
Suggestions for the game: We need a computer lab with obnoxious meme posters everywhere. Also I could get you a custom engine running maybe. huehue

I just got the strangest idea.

Captain Blubber (or maybe even Muffinlicious) should be a hall monitor. A really crotchety, no fun monitor that's really strict.

And if the hall monitor was Blubber, he could shoot bad students with his epic brone sniper rifle.

As Lurk said it probably would be an idea to use a small cast for the first version of the game to make it easier, then if you like the project make it bigger and more meme-filled than the first.

As for pending role for me I'm not bothered about being in it I'm happy just giving advice on a project.

When I first saw this thread I had thought somebody gotten a hold of Artificial Academy 2 or something and was doing a New May May Island with it. (Well, now I might consider that).

If you want to use me for the Art Club you can. Though my multi-title probably also puts me on the student counsel or whatever as well.

So here we go.

Character Name: Natsuru Springfield
General idea of how the character should look like: Reimu if you want to be quick about it. I have a few OC forms that could be used but just use Reimu from Hopeless Masqurade if you aren't looking for original art. I can provide original art at least for myself, but I couldn't shoulder the entire game.
Role:
Basic: Art Club co-leader, Student Counsel member, Senior. Also second richest person in the school next to RandomMan (if Karma is to parallel class) so halfway paying for most of the Art Club's supplies and found tutoring some of them.

If I'm granted a sub-plot, catch me in the theater room and chase me down afterwards to talk about previous history of Art Livestreaming, and can quest to get my enthusiasm for the sport back.

Also, if there ever needs to be a case where the main character has/wants to switch genders entirely, have the quest line lead to me and I'll make a man/woman out of them. But if they are going male to female they will be subjugated to my Ungodly Torture.

Suggestions for the Game:
Keep your scope small. Small enough to get it done in a month. Don't over-exert yourself. No really, even if you have to dis-regard everyone's pleas to be in this game, disregard them in favor of getting the game done.

Role: Foreign immigrant student who praises airplanes everyday. Some lines of dialogue will be welcome.

Suggestions: yiffer or filler should be the unpopular guy always trying to get in on jokes

Character Name: Pumbloom
General idea of how the character should look like: A Whismur with a Yaranaika face
Role: A Riff Raff shitposter trying to make it in the world, but he only makes mediocre threads. He's made a couple friends with mods and other users, and hangs out with Twisty.
Suggestions for the game: Don't worry too much about the small details, you can always revise the game after you release the first one.

Might as well put the details for myself down.

Name: Kourosh Kabir/ Mr. Kabir

Appearance: Bearded Persian man with slacks and a sport coat.

Role: The history teacher; lectures a lot, gives some good advice. Also a cock-blocker extraordinaire.

Suggestions: Take your time and be open to post-release patching. The danker the memes the better.

This should be the only character in the game.

That would mean Captain Blubber would be derping around in an empty academy, interacting and trying to build a relationship with himself….

And with the lack of other characters, any references made would feel more like some kind of hallucination or something…..

Making this dating sim less like a dating sim, and more like a schizophrenia and narcissism simulator, giving this game a dark, psychological twist.

Role: The anti fun of the school. Dislikes overused and shitty memes, Shows no disregard to any authorities or rules. basically a complete shit disturber. Is a member of the art club for painting tabletop miniatures and also a member of the DOTA 2 club (Or vidya club if to be simple)

Can get along with other users so long as they are complete idiots who do nothing but talk about the shitty memes he hates.

Suggestions for the game: If a dota 2 club is unnecessary just me in the vidya club.

Look: Sepia-coloured version of Link from the Legend of Zelda

Role: From America and New Zealand born-and-raised, the library is where i spend most of my days, talking primarily about vidya and despising furries, console fanboys and people who use too many emojis when talking online. Typically, you'll find me in front of a computer, whether it may be just using Tumblr or Facebook or something or playing just some video game. Don't talk to me whenever I'm tired or hungry, otherwise I'll be really irritable. I tend to worry too much about stuff that hasn't happened yet, but otherwise I guess I'm ok.

If given a sub-plot, your player character would run into me online through some chat website without knowing it, then later find out it was me through hints given by me and other students. You can try to track me down outside of the website and with the right dialogue options, we can start establishing a relationship, but after 3 days of in-game time after meeting me online, you make arrangements to meet with me IRL outside of school. Whether you want to meet up or stand me up is up to you.

Suggestions for the game: Don't feel pressured to make it as soon as you can. Take your time, I myself will be happy to wait. From the words of Shigeru Miyamoto, "a delayed game is eventually good but a rushed game is forever bad."

Alright, so after a day without power and internet I'm back. Thanks all for your suggestions, feedback, and general want to play/be in the game.

The VN will be made in Ren'Py game engine, so if you want to try and help with some coding you can do that. (It's free is why I'm using it, also Katawa Shoujo was made in it).

Thanks for all who also put in-depth suggestions/details about themselves, so it'll be a lot easier to implement you when the time comes. I'm not that talented at writing, so if anyone wants to write a story arc for someone or what their one-time scene will be, that'd be fantastic. (not everyone will have a route though)

For some plans with the game itself, I think a structure of building stats (And you'd need to get an X amount of a stat to get the good ending for someone, etc). This however is a side goal of what I want and I'd rather just focus on the dating part.

As of right now I'm learning the basics of Ren'Py and watching tutorials and stuff. The process will be long, but I'll be sure to get something out.

Petition to scrap all progress on the current game and make this goldmine instead

Role: A foreign student who is anti-social and sits in the third row in the far side. He mostly spends time in the library doodling, reading or surfing the web. He is oftentimes hot-headed.
Suggestions: Just do what you think's best for the sim.

I think tillster is still learning how to use Ren'Py.

Character Name: Ignia Pearl Sanderson
Looks: She's just like any Delphox but dons a fedora like a euphoric nerd
Role: fucboi The girl who is fucking lazy and loves staring at her laptop for extended periods of time. She's still undecided on what club she'll join, but she's considering the Riff-Raff club or the brone and fur club.
Suggestions: Make a club for the "underdogs" of KYM. Mostly filled with guys and/or gals who just hang out in the comments (especially the Pokemon gallery comments) like the casuls they are they are.

That I am. It'll be a while before anything playable/decent comes out of it though. I'm going to make the first week of it (Where you just meet and get to know the first 3 date-able characters) and I'll release that as a demo or w/e. Anyways, here's something I learned to do with Ren'Py, and while it isn't much, I'm just showing it so you know I didn't just leave.

Don't worry, I'm still working on it. It'll take some time, and my family is always around and I don't want them to see me making meme sex. I'll do updates every so often as well to keep you guys informed.

My 2 cents about this game.

TillsterRulz should make a realistic approach of the game even if that means cutting most the users and features.

I know people will hate it but the easier way to make the game will be a Mod dating sim with the main character being a regular user which you can name it and maybe add a profile pic, that way will be easier to flesh out personalities, make jokes, generate events and make an interesting plot.

To ease the work there could be a thread discussing the plot, characters, events and all user could give ideas to make it interesting.

I think I could make for a decent background character at least…
or the token yandere if that's not taken

Going off what LuRk said (thanks bby) RM/PM/secret person are defined for the demo, not for the full game (anyone can get a route if they want, it'll just take a long ass time).

So update on the game: Nothing has been done, literally nothing. Tomorrow/weekend I plan to go maximum coding power and do some stuff.
