There are ups and downs, but it's generally a good forum. You chose the right place.

@Steve: yeeeahhhh, next time don't throw out the receipt. But at least it's not this:

And yes, that's a real dog. Be very afraid.

Inb4 Algy: Go to bed, son.

Oh hai!
Always nice to see someone new come out of lurking. Enjoy your stay!

@Steve

You could stick it on eBay. There's bound to be some brony out there willing to buy a plushie.

@opspe
Allow me to consider your proposal

Can somepony help me out with finding a GIF. It has Rarity answering the door in Sweet and Elite saying "whats going on in this thread" or some shit like that… Halp

Hello there Shadow! Allow me to crash your wall. That's how I say hello in my native culture.

Anyway thanks for Connor linking to this…shall we say…very creative blog I am no longer completely mystified by images of an undead skeleton pony that surrounds itself in a single gelatinous polymorphic organ. I know the characters name and what it does but I still don't know what it IS.

It sounds like I might find more answers from something known as SlugBoxHF but when I Googled that subject I noticed the large number of URL's with 'Rule34' and 'Hentai' in it. At that point I closed the Google tab and pursued no further.

So I'm asking if anyone else might have any further clues

New member? Welcome!

As you said you've been a lurker for a while, I guess you know who most of us are.

Alright then, returning to the official welcomes.

Okay!
I think Cteno is something that can consume biomass to regenerate and repair itself into anything it wants to take shape of, possible won't pull it off unless it knows how the creature exactly does it.
But this makes me think that Cteno can be a dangerous creature, like a insectoid that can be classified as…well I don't know…
This!?!?!:

A freaking Tyranid!?!? She can if she wanted all she need to do is to consume the right materials or biological things that contains the elements to take on a shape and have it just as strong.

Last edited Dec 27, 2011 at 10:26PM EST

Well Cteno does claim in her blog to only be able to morph into ponies or anything that a pony skeleton can fit into. She could turn into this though:

But that's ignoring the fact that she is made of corn starch and can be defeated with a wiffle bat or a bucket of water.

Shes more comparable to a Changeling in the Starcraft universe

Her latest post showed that she turned into a truck with a buck load of apple juice!
And I think into shape of one of the transformer's vehicle modes too. I think third generation of Optimus prime. Hell I used to have that model of Optimus.

Well, y'know, there aren't any actual ponies on this thread.
Because ponies can't use computers.
And all the regular posters are humans.
Silly.

Im gonna share something with you regarding a video. Its going to be in two posts because its a wall of text.
This video:

-
Long ass comment so its in 2 parts Part1
-
The text in the video says to be thankful. Oh yeah, im real thankful that the episodes and stuff are barely available outside the United States. Fantastic. If videos get removed from YouTube, I basically have NO way of watching an episode since Ponyarchive is down.
-
I undertsand Hasbro’s concern and people’s idea that we shouldn’t pirate, copy or post episodes.
-
But if people don’t, A LOT of people are not going to be able to watch it.
-
Can’t download it over iTunes either cause I need a US iTunes account for that. On the 2nd of January, I am going to drive down to the United States (from Canada). Opening a bank account in the United States, providing PayPal info so I have a legal way of paying/purchasing stuff using US itunes. And then, when I download the episodes, ill do what PonyArchive did, ill post them online over FTP for people to download. And ill host them on servers based in a country that nor has copyright laws, and in the one that doesn’t care about any laws.

Part2
Hasbro’s attempt to curb piracy and remove ponyarchive and youtube uploads only leads to conflict, anger, and attempts to subvert their way of doing things. I am being punished for not living in the United States. So Im gonna pirate their episodes, let them send C&D letters to countries that do not care about law
-
People will NOT agree with what I am going to do, well then, if hasbro didn’t want this to happen, they COULD make it available on iTunes in other countries or their own FTP or mass media network so that people have access to the show.
-
Im going a long way (a long drive too) to get me Ponies, just because Hasbro doesn’t make content available in other regions
-
In case anyone is wondering why the hell I am going to pirate the iTunes episodes and distribute them.

@IvanP91

It wasn't Hasbro that took the episodes down, dammit. The reason PonyArchive was taken down was because they were hosting free episode downloads, which greatly reduced iTunes profits and the like. It's a lot different than YouTube.
The YouTube videos aren't and probably won't be taken down by Hasbro
And if you want to be an idiot and do what PonyArchive did, fine. I hope Hasbro takes down whatever downloads you host, too.
As for the episodes not being on iTunes in other countries, blame Apple, not Hasbro.

Last edited Dec 27, 2011 at 11:48PM EST

Hasbro is taking down the episodes on YouTube. Don't believe it? Fine, doesn't matter. But they are. Its totally normal for Hasbro to go protecting its IP so quick. After all, they are multi-billion dollar company, they can't stand to loose money, how is their CEO gonna buy that 7th ferrari with the episodes being destributed for free.

Nah, I won't continue arguing about this. I really don't care. I just want HD episodes, hell SD would be fine, but no, im in the wrong country. And now, to provide ponies in HD to anyone who wants em… (you know, since Hasbro doesn't want people to see them) ill be driving to the United States.

If you think it's so normal for Hasbro to be protecting its IP, then why the fuck are you going to pirate it?!
Also, "buy that 7th ferrari". You sound so ignorant. Do you know how multimillion dollar companies work?
People like you are going to cause this show to end prematurely because it couldn't profit.
You're taking money from the show.

Ugh, guys can we not have this? Citation, calm down.

I hate to have to be a devils advocate but it's not like Ivan can bankrupt Hasbro

Would I be taking money away from the show if Ivan distributes episodes to me? I'm an entire pacific ocean away from the Hubs airwaves. The show and its merchandise are not sold here, its not even advertised here. (As far as New Zealand is concerned MLP is G3, G4 is completely unheard of). I'm not even in a position to use iTunes

Hasbro never had any money from me unless they distribute to NZ properly as well as other countries. That's what Ivan wants to do: continues the shows international accessibility until Hasbro does something about the shows current US restriction.

Of course you folks in the US have no excuse. Buy it.

Now looking at that video I notice that Hasbro pointed out that the show can still be watched on their own website. I'm going to investigate that claim If it turns out we can, then shitstorm avoided, correct?

I love that single line. Wanna help the show? Buy it, always. Even after you watched it. Those of us not living in the United States, well, we will figure something out.

Looks like Hasbro made 4.07 Billion Dollars USD in gross profit. Not bad, looks like I can't force them to live on the streets with my plan to distribute some episodes.

Protecting it's IP so quick? You mean….a year is quick? They sure took their damn time getting to these episodes.

But I'm not too worried. Look at anime and all sorts of movies and shit. They can EASILY be found on streaming websites and torrents so I'll be able to find my pony fix.

@BSoD:

Living in New Zealand, I tried their website. I think it's my computer but none of the episodes would load for me. I just keep seeing a spinning hub logo.

@Ivan
Right, rightrightright, because I totally said you could singlehandedly cause Hasbro to close down.
Dear God, really?
Really fucking really?
I didn't say that. But do you have any idea how large corporations such as that work?
Evidently not.
You won't be making them close anytime soon, but you could definitely be hurting their profits.

@Ivan

I also have to point out that I'm not actually recommending that you go through with this Ivan

You may not be ruining Hasbro's profits but you are still promoting piracy of another organisations intellectual property. Just because Hasbro already has a crap-ton of money doesn't make it right. You are not Robin Hood.

I'll still look for a legal way to view the episodes. I'd rather not resort to piracy unless I absolutely have to and I don't regard ponies as such a huge necessity anyway.

PonyArchive was taken down for good reason. It was a reckless maneuver and nobody really had any sympathy for its removal. Don't expect the Brony community to support you any more than they supported PonyArchives.

@burning_phoneix

So far I can find 2 minute long sneak previews of a few first season episodes on their website but that’s about it.

Then I was told I can view full episodes on the Hub….great advice…

I'm going to keep looking for a little longer

[edit]

Oh there we go, I found it now….but you seem to be right its just a spinning HUB logo. Nothing happens

Last edited Dec 28, 2011 at 12:32AM EST

Just for the record to those not living in the U.S., the Hub rarely shows ponies anyways. It doesn't have a timeslot where most bronies could watch. It used to have a nice 6:00 P.M. timeslot, but instead the Hub shows reruns of Batman.
For some reason.

Yeah I don't know if it's just us or its locking people outside of the US from watching it…..I recall a long time ago I did watch a full episode on the website so I believe it's a technical issue. Can any non-US bronies check this link the latest episode and tell us if it works?

http://www.hubworld.com/watch/1325749738001/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-season-2-episode-13

leave for the holidays and my grandparents internet-less house
Comes back and sees flame war

BTW: You can view MLP episodes for free. Just use hubworld. The Hub owns the site, all revenue from viewing the episode (and its ads) goes directly to the creators and the site owners usually upload within a few days of release. No piracy. No copyright strikes. No problem.

Testing now, will edit with results.

Results:

-I am currently at home in the US, so the Hub site is working.

-Upon loading my school's VPN, placing my IP in Canada, the site shows…the spinning Hub logo. Looks like it's US only for now.

In Canada, the show's on Treehouse, but they're only part way through Season 1 now, and their site doesn't have any videos. I guess we'll have to settle for watching Adventure Time on the Teletoon site or something.

I believe the saying goes, "The grass is always greener on the other side."

Fortunately, Twilight magicked the grass equally so we can enjoy verdant grasses on either side. 'Cause she's cool like that.

Looks like fun? I'm being held here against my will! You FOOL! What have you done?! Get out now!!! They'll make you watch pastel-colored ponies and talk about friendship and sh*t!!! SAVE YOURSE

Boy, oh golly gee whiz! Are we sure as sugar happy to have you here with us ponies!

@Owens

You can…see…

What devilry is this?!

As you might guess by the imbed, I've got a fully functional machine now. Still won't post a lot for the next couple of weeks (focusing on some KYM Christmas Presents…and hanging out with folks,) but at least I get to talk to you guys now.

Catching up with Ponibooru a little. Why is Pinkie cooking?

Now let me get off of the computer. My parents are probably thinking "He only fixed the computer to watch porn at 1am…"

Ha. I now feel how you younger guys feel like with your parents. Mine probably won't care that much. They'll just back away slowly and not ask any questions about it.

Hey, guys! How are my happy, pony-loving little friends doing today? Having fun, I ho-

Is this dispute over? If not, I can come back at a better time…

@Verbose

Devilry? What ever do you mean, my friend? Its simple, good old-fashioned black magic.

And Pinkie is cooking because she tastes damn good when lightly seasoned.

@Owens

Its between Ivan and Citation over copyright but I think they cooled off now.

But the big picture is that Hasbro has decided they don't want MLP, or parts of it on YouTube. They prefer people view the episodes on Hubworld instead.

Which is fine…if you live in the US

For me and all the other non-US Bronies, we cannot use Hubworld due to some technical issue on their site (which frankly I think is intentional) so we need to think how we can deal with the problem in the event of a total Pony Apocalypse on YouTube.

Now the first idea that comes to mind is IP spoofing. Opspe already just tried that with a Canadian IP/VPN and got a consistent result. Perhaps it can work in reverse

The other method might be to use a proxy server based in the US.

I'm inclined to agree with BSOD about IP spoofing. I've used the VPN in the US to access Canadian-only content, so it would work the same in the reverse.

I found this, maybe it'll help? I'll give it a shot and report back – BSOD if you would kindly do the same that would be greatly appreciated.

@Citation: Yeah, it probably was trolls who did it, but Hasbro can't come out and say they support the sharing of their copyrighted material on YouTube, can they? Whoever it was, they were successful, and there's not much we can do about it.

Fun fact: Hasbro has been perfectly fine with the episodes being on YouTube previously, as most profits come from merchandise sales and not from ads.

"Whoever it was, they were successful, and there’s not much we can do about it."

Or can we?
Gigatoast has all the episodes downloaded from iTunes. He could probably upload them.

The method was successful. However, I'm moving my announcement to the next page because, in my experience, people don't read previous pages. I'm really sorry for doing this, but I want to spread this as much as I can.

Yo, opspe, I'm real happy for you, and I'mma let you finish…

But I'm damn tired.

In all seriousness, though, that's awesome.

Now you can watch ponies on an American level.

EDIT: Damn it, opspe. Your title should be "Ruiner of Owens' Jokes".
