Well, I don't see how my perspective would be different from anyone else, nor do I think I am an accurate representation of the female brony population as a whole, but I suppose I'll contribute.
I, for one, view homosexual pairings much in the way of other pairings: it's fine if it makes sense, and revolves around the character's innner emotions and personality, rather than our own titillation and enjoyment. I see no reason to differentiate between heterosexual and homosexual relationships, whether in modern society, or MLP fanon. Now, yes, there is a certain social stigma attached to same-gender relationships, but in the end, it shouldn't matter.
Now, to be more specific on the pairings, I am a very, very light shipper. I do like friendshipping Applejack and Rarity, but I see it as more of a fanon and "fun" thing rather than "see all the subtext IT MUST BE SO." As for others, LyraXBonbon is almost, but not really canon, and makes a lot of sense, so why not? Female/female shipping is quite easy to do, because there are so many developed and interesting characters for the community to ship.
As for male/male shippings, there really aren't enough male characters to ship anyone. It just doesn't work. The only major male character in the show is Spike, and he really only belongs with another dragon (I see Rarity as only a passing crush, but maybe, just maybe). Other male characters are not nearly enough developed to accurately portray a relationship with another through their personalities. You could say Big Mac is to some extent, but even with him, we can't go deep enough into his emotions as other, mostly female characters. No male/male shipping works for me, not because it's wrong (why would you even think that), but because males can't be in a relationship that "revolves around the character's inner emotions and personality," to quote myself a while back, at least in the context of this show.
Perhaps my favourite shipping pair is Big MacXFluttershy. Now, I don't follow this at all, have never read any fanfics about them, and have only seen a bit of fanart, but from what I can tell, this pairing is wonderful. They're both superficially shy characters that hide their emotions and thoughts from others, but on the inside, just want to be loved and accepted. They're definitely among the most realistic and relatable ponies, especially when you think of how good of a job the writers did at developing them within the boundaries of a children's show.
Overall, the characters of My Little Pony are among the most memorable and lovable ones in the history of forever, and the writers do an amazing job at placing a piece of each and every one of us in the mane six.
And that's truly what I love about this show.
