You done sceptered in the wrong neighborhood motherfucka.

Another box, which itself contains another box that contains Emperor Kuzco turned into a flea.

So yeah, something evil.

As for spoiling (going back to Crimson Locks' post,) if the episode has aired, then it's up for discussion without spoilers. If the content hasn't aired, then it should be spoilered.

We've generally agreed upon that rule, but the main thing is that we be consistent. It doesn't really matter how we go about it as long as we all know what we're doing so we can keep our knowledge of what will happen.

And I believe the current general rule is to spoil everything that hasn't aired yet on The Hub. If you're waiting for an HQ stream, then it shouldn't take more than a few hours to wait (in which case, don't come by the thread. I think that's asking too much of those who could sit through a stream or watch it on The Hub

@Scepter

Scepter?

I don't even know 'er!

Here' a little more context (apologies if I've missed who posted the information before.)

But on the serious tip, the memeticism of it is pretty hilarious.

RM and BSOD, I propose we no longer delete spam threads but to lock them with this gif as the last post. I will also fight you IRL if we don't.

I think cane is better than gak. Gak was made famous because of the fact that it just plain old annoyed the living shit out of everybody. Cane is a picture of a Scepter with a creepy Twi-Face on it that appeared for 10 seconds, I'd rather much meme-ify something that brought me some lulz for 10 seconds in the episode instead of Playdough's mentally ill cousin that annoyed the shit out of us because they'd play the commercial nonstop during every commercial break.

I'm fairly certain Gak managed to amuse a lot of folks as well, even if it was only for a short while.

For comparison: Most of the people who loathe Arrow to the Knee nowadays were the same folks who once couldn't stop laughing at it and making the joke themselves.

Memes and irony fit well together.

And the KYM fandom would be so blisteringly pissed-off if yet another character got turned into a princess.

Since when has anything in this fandom been accurate?
Cane = Scepter
Mane = Forelock
Crown = Tiara
Seriously, we just go with what rolls off the tongue.

I thought it was basically waiting at least a few hours after the episode premieres before going Spoiler crazy….you know considering not everyone wants to wake up at 7 in the AM to catch Pony (those fucking casuals). Then after a few hours it's fair game. I mean I think now we can finally talk about every little detail about the premiere now.

As for the scepter…..

It's in GMod now. I'm enjoying this fad a lot more than I enjoyed Gak that's for sure.

@Kewl

I thought it was basically waiting at least a few hours after the episode premieres before going Spoiler crazy….you know considering not everyone wants to wake up at 7 in the AM to catch Pony (those fucking casuals). Then after a few hours it’s fair game.

It wouldn't make any logical sense to visit the thread (or the image gallery for that matter) until seeing the episode anyway because really, will anyone be talking about anything other than the episode that just aired? I personally avoid the thread like the plague until I watch the episode.
> Not everyone wants to wake up at 7 AM
I don't have to be up until 10 for the new episode to air. Get on my level.

@ Back to Cane/Scepter/Shiny golden stick with Twilight's face on it:

There is officially a tumblr ask blog about it
It even uses the proper terminology for the scepter!

I doubt this blog will last very long, but still, it's spreading outside of /mlp/ at quite a rate.

Is anyone else slightly disappointed that the scepter doesn't have a tiny pair of wings on it?

@ What's in the box:
The most common theory seems to be that it has the magic to turn one (if not all) of the mane six into an alicorn(s), because I guess the fandom likes to think Meghan rustles our jimmies on purpose because she does. don't believe her lies.

My best guess is that it contains some sort of elements 2.0. It's not necessarily what I want but it's the best guess I have. I'm not very good at predictions.

Sorry, we may not get any good Conventions over here in Chicago (Yeah, I'm definitely going to a giant nerd convention in the Murder Capital of the United States) but goddammit this is Chicago. You just don't leave this place, we have the Blues Brothers and…..Two Baseball Teams! AND we're the murder capital of the United States, we're fearless straps on Kevlar vest

@Spoilers

I think that it might be a fool's errand to make the pony thread spoiler-free on a Saturday afternoon. Even if we enforced the spoiler tag, staying away until you've seen the episode would still be a good idea.

Besides, if you went back through the last few pages and deleted everything that had to do with the episode, there would be barely anything left!

@The Cane SCEPTER

Well, I certainly prefer it to gack. I usually just wait a few hours and then watch the episode on Youtube sans commercials, so I didn't even know about the gack ad until I saw the meme everywhere.

Anyway, making an ask-blog seems to be standard procedure for a minor pony meme. I wouldn't look too deep into it.

@The box

Since we're unlikely to see what's in the box until the season ends, and it will likely be game-changing in some way (maybe that's where Gallifrey is?) I'm going to take it as tacit confirmation that there will be at least one more season after this one, if only so that the change will have a chance to play out.

@Thing I noticed

When Twilight cast the "alicorn magic" to make the potion turn into semen white, did anyone else see that the magic animation was the same purple-green stuff that came out when Sombra cast a spell?

What the hell could THAT mean?

@Alicorn magic

Indeed, that was quite an interesting tidbit.

Presumably, it's some form of high-level magic focusing on the warping of reality. It can be used to form objects from nothing, transmute the properties of existing objects and affect minds in profound ways on a massive scale.

However, it seems to corrupt the user if used extensively, as was the case with Sombra. Perhaps the energies channeled slowly tear away at the user's sanity, or perhaps it's just a case of good old-fashioned absolute power corrupting absolutely.

Of course, even something as dangerous as this is, in the end, no more than a tool. Careful use seems to have no permanent effect, and given the potential utility, it would be foolish not to have it as part of the répertoire.

Again, I apologize if someone already posted it, but this pretty much alleviates my fears after the finale of last season.

(Not really a spoiler, as it was implied in the premiere, but just in case you didn't want to know for sure until it was explicitly revealed.)

My main concern wasn't the wings. I didn't really care about that beyond having to get used to the canon fanart, and I've done that.

What bothered me was that one of two things would happen:

  1. Twilight would become a princess who lived in her own separate place away from her friends.
  2. Twilight wasn't really a princess like we've seen princesses so far.

Her regular royal responsibilities haven't been made clear as of yet (and saving Equestria was her graduate student job, so I guess she's doing that full-time until Celly and Moonbutt bite it and the real crown become vacant.)

So although, it sorta breaks my concept of what a princess is (it appears that Twilight is between a regal entity and a figurehead knight), I'm glad that the dynamics among the Mane Six are still relatively intact.

There's also this little, vague gem.

And there's also this gem that I thoroughly enjoyed.

It's glorious.

Ok guys, what do you think is in the box?

Probably a super powerful alicornization magic that will strike the Mane Five and turn them into the Alicorns of Harmony.

More seriously, it'll be a new plot device with a different shtick (it turns them all into earth ponies in order for it to power up and fire before restoring them or something) but with basically the same function.

Verbose officiated:

Alright, good. Standard spoiler rules are in play.

Well, she did say they'll all become alicorns, and she also said she doesn't like the "don't believe her lies" meme, so if she wants the meme to go away, she'd have to be honest…

@Kewlnoob
Chicago is quite an interesting place. You really get to know the culture when you have to take supervisor calls from Cicero with angry Comcast customers complaining that AT&T is cheaper and what not. I can't wait until I get admitted into Illinois Tech. Just kidding, but is it true that everybody is angry in Chicago?

@Alicorn Magic
I was surprised to see that it would be that colour. Is it dark magic? Who knows.

I've gotten quite bored that all I see in the Image gallery is just these cane/sceptor memes all about, so I made one that expressed my feelings to this new (Forced) Meme.

That's it, I hereby call this cane the Twilicious Pimp Cane. Speaking of which, I'm surprised to not see a picture of a pimp holding that cane.

DON'T GIVE THEM ANY IDEAS!

So, anyone wanna speculate whether this season will be the last, second to last, third, or so on?

I'd like to think that this season won't be last since they haven't advertised it as such…

an NSFW pic of Cadence and Shining Armor, i bet.

in all seriousness,

well, the Tree of Harmony basically spat it out right after the girls returned the elements to it just so it lives. six keyholes for six keys, which obviously are yet to be discovered. i have a feeling it's tied to the Elements and could very well be something much more.. powerful than those. all the powers of the Elements combined in one package. just speculating, though.

chowzburgerz wrote:

lol I have

@no but seriously what's in the fucking box

the mystery is actually starting to grate at me. What's weird is how it looks so crystal empirey in design but I can't really imagine it having anything to do with that. Has there been any speculation about how it could be new element for a new pony?

And the award for Meme of the Year goes to…

THIS INANIMATE GOLDEN ROD!

Now to figure out what's in that freaking box!

I really don't know what it could be.
Presumably, it must be something either extremely powerful or extremely precious to be locked away under the Tree of Harmony, but since we just found out that the tree exists, it's hard to really guess what it might be hiding.
Seeing as how discovering it required a look back in time and locating a relic that outdates even the princesses, I'm sort of hoping that whatever lies inside gives even further insight into the actual origins of Equestria itself.
Some kind of ancient artifact or something.
I really don't have a clue, I just know it's going to be fun finding out!

Also, this…

… is apparently not Derpy.
Despite having the same hairstyle and cutie mark, a slight difference in shading = all new character that a person would have to be stupid to believe is Derpy!
That, or color-blind.
So yeah, I totally still think it looks like Derpy.
COUNT IT!
What kind of a name is 'Orange Box'?

@ The Box topic
Its still too early to really give a Hypnosis on it right now, It could have something that is so powerful that could forever keep peace in the land (Or potentially put it into greater danger that even the likes of Discord would run away from). Or it could do a "Kung-Fu Panda", and have absolutely nothing in it.

@Deadparrot

It's not the colorblindness fooling you, that Derpy has a different hair shade.

I'm going to go ahead and say it is in fact Derpy. She just dyed her hair ginger.

@Randomman

People making articles for something isn’t a sign of something being recognised, it’s a sign of people liking a joke probably a bit too much or wanting to force a meme. I can guarantee you here and now that this will happen at next to every episode.
The episode aired yesterday, let’s not make a second Gak right away. I’m deadpooling that article for now.
You’re free to discuss it of course. And if you believe my action was incorrect, please state your reasons.

Haha, yea I figured you would insta-deadpool it. Not really going to object. I mean seriously, that OP was asking for it to happen with the way he wrote.

Plus at this point the sceptre thing isn't showing any signs of being more than just a Gak (We need to invent a term for Memes that only last a day. Micromemes? I'm tempted to say it's an event, but it's a full blown photoshopping content manufacturing fad so we cannot use that.)

Before we can undeadpool that article and put any more work into it, we need to wait and see if it lasts longer than Gak did, before the entire fandom…no, EVERYONE tries to murder it and throw it into the 7th circle of meme hell where ATTK resides.

If the sceptre does survive the hate backlash phase and continues spreading as it is now, then I'd recommend having that article revived and rewritten as I had recommended. We'll just wait and see. It was already promising to have more of a chance than Gak did when I saw the article crop up (hence how I gave it the benefit of the doubt), not because of the article itself (obviously that troll article meant nothing at all) but because of it's spread outside of /mlp/ into Derpibooru and the massive amount of content.

But I think it was fair to give it a quick look and find some info on it's origin while it's origin was still fresh, you know, just in case

Shhhhh, let's just enjoy the pone before we discuss it's eventual death and eternal sadness when Hasbro brings forth Generation 5 and tries to make it too hip in an attempt to appeal to everyone again, only to alienate the bronies AND the target audience.

We have a saaaaad future ahead of us folks.

At least five seasons, but I can see it going seven or eight, easy. As one anon said, "This isn't the end of the ride, it's only the end of the beginning."

@Story arc box
You know, Iamslow raises a good point:

It definitely has some Crystal Empire vibes coming from it. Maybe we'll get some more worldbuilding on the Empire in the season that sheds some light on it and the Story arc box.

The three main theories currently circulating are:

  • It's an alicornifier for the rest of the Main Six
  • It's a Pandora's box/Eldrich Abomination container and the Tree released it as a "defense mechanism" to stop them from getting the Elements again (alright, so I made up that last part)
  • It contains the Elements v2.0

Option three is what I'm betting on.

8/10 not bad. +1 Discord bonus point for a total of 9

I always thought Discord was one of the coolest characters and even if he's not back as a main villain, I definitely want to see more of him

On the HAPPENING SCALE I think this ranks a 'WORST FEARS AVERTED' which ranks below 'FAR EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS' but ranks above 'WE COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS'

We've got Discord still being Discord (as opposed to being the 7th member of the main 6) and Twilight still being Twilight (as opposed to being Princess Mary Sue). Promising signs to me.

Also I like the graphical upgrades they've done to it. MLP now supports High Dynamic Range! Gaben would be proud.

High Dynamic Range? Bitch please, that's some motherfuckin last gen bloom lighting right there.

All we need now is a brown and red color pallet and we'll have Gears of Pony War.

I loved this episode, an excellent premier to the season! A few niggles here and there include spending too much time on unnecessary stuff (ie, showing in excruciating detail how the vines are taking over ponyville) while spending too little time on important plot points like Discord convincing Twilight to go back.

But the real pro here is how the handled Discord: I as incredibly impressed that the writers simply didn't go for the incredibly simple "Discord is their friend now! Everything's fine and everyone's happy with him now!" premise. It was hinted at the end of the Discord episode last season with Celestia leaving the elements with Twilight "just in case" but it's refreshing to see the utter lack of trust the Mane 6 (sans Fluttershy) show in him.

The last sentence sounds weird out of context.

OH YEAH! AND THAT DAMN BOX!

Are….Are we finally getting a season long arc and not single episodes?

THANK YOU BASED MCCARTHY!

Can I just have the ponies? Pokemon are horrifying when you think about them. There's the giant centipede that shoots superacid out of its mouth, the giant electric spider that hides in trees waiting for people to wander up to it, the pile of toxic sludge that tries suffocating you, giant wasps that have lances for legs, rats capable of electrocuting you, and, of course, candles that suck the life out of you and eat it.

And what's up with the damn pokeballs? Why do they always show the captured Pokemon struggling desperately to escape even when they willingly join in. I swear there's something sinister going on inside of those things…

@TSG

But think of the opportunities! One of those horrifying giant electric centiwasptreeratvampires COULD BE YOURS! It will do your bidding, protect you from horrors, slay your foes, fetch you icecream and be your very best friend!

Plus by adding ponies into the mix, you can properly utilise the magic of friendship between you and your pokemon, so you probably don't even NEED a pokeball, just like what Ash and Pikachu pulled off.

Need a pokemon? Just get Fluttershy to sort you out with one.

Traversing through hostile Charizard territory? Get Rarity to tag along, no dragon would burn you if it could ruin their chances with her.

Pokemon destroying your town? Nothing Twilight can't fix. If she can take down an Ursa Minor, an Onyx should be no problem.

Can't sleep thanks to those ghost type pokemon? Pinkie Pie will giggle at them for you.

Team Rocket? Meet the Elements of Harmony

No matter how you look at it, it's a win-win scenario!

In other news, I suppose the brony fandom really has died now, because we are now scepties, and this is the sceptre fandom

The only significance for them is that Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy may end up with Cupcakes in their eyes.

As much as I'd love to say a cast of Alicorns could be an eventuality, the current evidence, and the logic behind it is incomplete, and as of this time, we cannot make a definitive statement on such a claim's validity. Leaving the case only slightly above the level of normal speculation.
