On the subject of the box looking crystal empire-esque, did anyone else think the tree of harmony looked very crystal-like as well?
I don't really think it means anything, but I like to speculate

I'm pretty sure that Celestia mentioned the Crystal Empire being able to affect Equestria when she sent Twilight. It's also been explicitly stated that the Crystal Empire used to be considerably larger. It's not actually impossible that at it's height, it extended throughout modern Equestria. ( my headcanon is that the Crystal Empire is the civilization founded in the Heartwarming Pagent, not Equestria, and then Discord conquered modern Equestria, causing the collapse of the Crystal Empire to ti's capital city. Luna and Celestia got the Elements from the Tree of Harmony, then stoned Discord. Then, Celestia and Luna founded modern Equestria, and an unspecified time afterwards, the Crystal Empire disappeared following Sombra's defeat.)

Original Content? I assumed it was Original Character too. Was about to say that I don't have an MLP one.

I'd be too if I quit graduates school and teaching to focus on a fandom website and now found myself 30k in debt.

The Everfree Network has become infamous for their monopolistic attitudes toward Convention streams. Their leaked contract with BronyCon not only states they'll have "exclusive" rights to the backstage and staff mics, but, in perhaps one of the worst cases I've ever seen of economic idiocy, has BronyCon paying them for the right for them to stream the content.
This goes against every form of media profit known to man where the content producer (BronyCon) is payed by a distributor (Everfree) and the distributor than allows the public access to the content and, in turn, makes money via ads or paywall.
I don't mind it, though, as /mlp/'s rage toward them provides some of the best content they produce.
@ The Cane Article
I saw that Gif that I uploaded in the MLP gallery (The one with the Scepter being used to Beat a dead horse) in the article, And it was said to be uploaded in Reddit by Scottfra, I'm not sure how these things work on articles, and the distribution of credit of people who post stuff. I'm new to this kind of stuff, so if I'm being a complete idiot, then go ahead call me a newbie faggot or whatever.
But I was the one who edited that gif (I took the gif of the man beating a horse with his normal walking stick, and covered it up with the Scepter, making it look like he is using that to beat it instead), so should the article be edited to say where it was first uploaded, and who uploaded it, instead of a person finding it, and uploading it to a more popular sharing site? I don't care about the attention, but I just wanted to ask how would this work, does it talk about where it got popular, or where it was originally uploaded? And if you don't believe me that I was the one who did it, then here.
Screenshot that shows the time I uploaded it.
Screenshot of the Reddit upload.
Again, I'm new to this sort of shit, (Especially the forums) so If I come off as being a complete fucking retard, then in this regard, I am.

…Seen here fleeing from Pinkie's Wrathful Vengeance.
Now would be a great chance to revise your testimony, and your hypothesis…
…But on further inspection, two of our Pinkie Promise Patrons actually can fly already, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. Thus the question of whether they will fly or not is moot.
The only significance for them is that Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy may end up with Cupcakes in their eyes.
As much as I'd love to say a cast of Alicorns could be an eventuality, the current evidence, and the logic behind it is incomplete, and as of this time, we cannot make a definitive statement on such a claim's validity. Leaving the case only slightly above the level of normal speculation.
I rest my case.
But Applejack didn't actually break the contractual swear, thus making her loophole a legally valid escape for the agreement. Pinkie agreed to this right before she fell off the wagon.
As for the other two participants of the agreement:
Their punishment shall be more severe… XD
Edit: Wow. Gimp really screwed up that derpy edit. Also this was on the BBC:
I'm calling it right here! My previous post will come true! They are going to give the doctor an actual speaking part and call him by name! (See this post)
And @EFN rant:
While I too get enraged at EqD sometimes, I remember I have part of a life outside the fandom and remember to not give a buck. This dude needs to try and find that. If anything, his post more so attacks the readers of EqD rather than the actual site. Not a good move imo.
I never heard about the Everfree Network, I must live under a rock or something. Anyways, after reading the post, I found one that kinda makes it a bit more clear.
Pretty good response
@Tyler Bowman
Actually, that's quite normal. It's normal to be frustrated when someone uses your work and it gets more famous in another place than it's origin. Well, just be glad that you know you made it, I guess.
@Vintiezre
I'm not really frustrated, Since this was just a edit of a already popular gif, I was just really wondering how does these articles work in the regard of stuff with in a meme or event or person, where something is used more popular, like If someone were to make a Doge meme, and it was one of the first, and most popular ones, but does the article say where it was originally from and who published it, or where it was mostly found, and where most people were giving it upvotes, faves, Etc. I understand If this were completely original work, (Like If someone made a drawing of Fluttershy (Or whoever is your favorite pony)) and someone else uploads it in Derpibooru, and that's where it got popular, but when people link to the drawing, it doesn't go to where the artist uploaded it, but to the place where it got popular. Even if the uploader in Derpibooru says who made it.

You want Original Content? You got it.
I might never make a PMV again.
@Tyler Bowman
What's happening is that, that article is looking for evidence of the spread of content moreso than the origin of content.
It is crediting the spread of content to the people who brought the content to those area's, regardless of where that content originated. So even though the image originated right here on KYM, Scottfra got the credit for being the one to post it on Reddit. However it is not crediting Scottfra for the images creation.
KYM wants to extend full and complete credit to image creators where it can. So if you haven't done so already: Claim authorship! (button on the image page). So editors know that the origin of the image was in fact here and that may be reflected on the article
I think articles should make a note of the origin of spreading materials if they know it
Frankly, that article needs tons of work more. Theres not much documentation on the fact that /mlp/ made pretty much the majority of all the sceptre content in just one evening of photoshopping purely because they thought it was funny (not the sceptre itself but just the fact they were making so much content for a random object that only appears for a flash). The way the article was worded, it sounds like the sceptre madness started on Derpibooru. But it's the other way around. All the images on derpibooru came from two or more /mlp/ threads
Now if you excuse me, I have spambots to cane
@TSG: Oh, I see. Thanks, I understand now!

You're really going to argue that when I already covered that semantic loophole?
It may have stuck to the letter of the agreement, but not the Spirit. And if you recall, I did mention that. Or at least I implied it.
Breaking the spirit of a Promise is the same as breaking the letter of it, and Applejack breaking the Spirit of it is what I was denoting.
My EXACT words:

My logic remains unchanged. Applejack still broke the Spirit of the promise; making her the last one to bring dishonor to Pinkie Promises.

Yeah, just want to go back to this for a sec.
This was not 'on the BBC.'
This was actually one of the pre-show trivia slides accompanying the theatrical screenings of Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special.
(I literally just got back from it and saw this firsthand! There was a smattering of giggling and applause, but mostly a general sense of a lot of people saying 'I know what this is but I'm too embarrassed to let the people around me know that I know so I'm just going to make a couple awkward noises until it goes away.')
So yeah, this was shown to thousands of people in movie theaters all across the globe assembling for one of the biggest events in sci-fi history!
Also of note was this: The 50th anniversary was a gigantic celebration of a half-century of an icon of British TV and among all the uncountably infinite bits of interesting information and trivia that they could have put up on those screens, Doctor Hooves was considered important enough to get a direct mention.
That's honestly really nuts when you think about it.

IT'S – A – SHOW – ABOUT – MAGICAL – TALKING – PONIES!
WHY – CAN'T – YOU – PEOPLE – JUST – HAVE – FUN – WITHOUT – TAKING – IT – ALL – SO – DAMN – SERIOUSLY!?
Honestly, EqD has plenty of its own issues.
I don't think anyone would claim that it is perfect, but I have never once gotten the impression that they had any intent of being a hub for 'hard-hitting pony journalism.'
Yeah, Seth makes silly posts about Trixie stuff because… well, it's still his damn blog.
I've always gotten the feeling that he and his crew are largely in it to HAVE FUN!
Shocking concept, eh?
Yes, they could do a better job of choosing what should and should not be posted, but since they have never tried to carry themselves with much, if any, 'gravitas,' I don't really care all that much.
It's just a place to go to see a general consolidation of a bunch of pony content.
EFN, on the other hand, has tried to establish itself as a 'serious' news organization.
While I would consider that pretty silly on its face and just let them go about their business, all this talk of 'exclusive' streaming rights and general throwing around of their weight to require special treatment really rubs me the wrong way.
At the end of the day, everyone is here to have fun.
A certain level of professionalism is absolutely expected in larger fan organizations (cons, charities, and yes, radio shows), but it does feel like these guys are taking it a couple steps too far and really losing sight of the fun.
Speaking of…
Back to fun!
@Blue Screen
Ok Thank you, I was just wondering, and I already sent a claim authorship on it.

We want to give credit where it's due, and as you were the creator you should have some credit in it. The Reddit reupload is how it spread, and that reupload is notable spread. But that doesn't take away that the post was stolen/a repost.
I hope you can understand how the originals tend to get hard to find on this large web. Thank you for the heads up. We're always looking to improve our article's accuracy, so the fact that you stept forward certainly helps.
I'll edit it in.
Edit: Done.
Gotta admit, in all my time, this is the first time I'm editing in credit for KYM.

We aren't exactly creators of popular content. Compared to the attention media can get on sites like 4chan/Tumblr/Reddit, we're just small. Plus we have this sorta unwritten rule that as a site for meme coverage, we shouldn't be making them ourselves. You're kinda lucky here I guess it was reposted to Reddit and got notable attention there.

Issue is, we need the evidence. Do you have some archived threads? If we can back it up with sources, sure, give /mlp/ what they deserve. But Chanarchive is dead, and Foolz doesn't cover /mlp/. We can't really use "because folks told us so" as a source.

This is the website that helped me to be able to edit gifs in photoshop, but You need to have photoshop, if you don't have it, then I can't help you.
http://ngemu.com/threads/how-to-edit-resize-existing-animated-gif-images-in-photoshop-cs3.108792/
but To insert your avatar in the that gif you want to use, you need to make only one frame visible in the gif, then you need to place your avatars head in photoshop, and place it where it needs to be in the frame, then merge the visible frame with the avatar layer. Repeat it with every frame until satisfied, Hopefully that'll help, just message me if you still have trouble.

Even if we ignore the letter vs spirit argument, it took Twilight 2 seasons to receive her wings for her punishment. With Applejack's act of deception (honesty element fail. lol) she still has till the end of the season to receive her wings. Exactly within the time frame of the box appearing.

I used the real scene from movie. Because Sony Vegas is kinda laggy when you use gifs.
Yes, i have used Sony Vegas: "3D source alfa" for cane's movement. Copied scene for new layers like Loki's body, masked them exc exc bla bla…
Then rendered the video and converted that into a gif.
About your request. Well, no.

Oh-ho-ho, I sense a Twilestia thread coming on…
@Photoshop rant: You don't NEED photoshop. There's paint MSI (at least I think that's what it's called.) And of course there is GIMP which is free/opened source. That's what I used to go from this:
To this:
It's not perfect/professional, but it gets the job done. You notice the edges around the wings are jagged and the tail I had to paint because it was cut off. It has it's flaws, but some artist in the community exclusively make their comics in GIMP. It's also a great tool for making .gif's
