Small updates in the gaming world:
Fallout 76 has been met with massive backlash for being incredibly unpolished and refunds are being denyed to the consumers if they even download the game. Now after 2 weeks of being released, it's supposed to be recieving weekly patches. Though it's price keeps plummeting.

And one week after the official release of "well if you don't like the game concept you can just not but the game" battlefield V, sales up to 50% off have been spotted.

The funny part is that both those games were practically reskins. Battlefield V makes roughly the exact same mistakes as Battlefield 1 (namely, laser tag gameplay, low content, forced reliance on squadmates who probably won't do their job well, lackluster singleplayer, weaksauce combined arms with only maybe one or two vehicles on map, lag and bugs etc.). Fallout 76 also makes the same mistakes that fallout 4 did (same bugs in fallout 4 are in fallout 76), well except it made some more mistakes like getting rid of all the NPCs, microtransactions and having awful PVP.

Maybe gamers are just really tired of getting the same game every freaking year and horrible PR (Lazy games development and social justice bullshit) was just the straw that broke the camels back?

Speaking of Battlefield V being down 50%. I wonder if "Either accept it or don’t buy the game" and "These are people who are uneducated" will join "we have a product for people who can't get online, it's called Xbox 360" in top video game PR disasters.

I feel like the whole sense of pride and accomplishment quote would overtake it especially because it could be argued that quote quite possibly might destroy loot boxes in entirely in the western world
speaking of which:

I have been away working on my own IP actually and I realize there are two components here which are causing devs to lose sales.
First is that they refuse to correct their mistakes. Not only they release a game which is basically a repetition of another, they even release it with errors and try to pretend they are not there. I popped a vessel (Literally) upon realizing my novel had errors in it.
The resulting guilt and shame, combined with the stress of overworking during production, had effects on my health. I understand what it feels like for a content creator to make a game breaking (Or business breaking) mistake, but these people wait for the backlash instead of correcting it when possible.
The other element is their relationship to their audience. They act as if their audience owed them something instead of realizing they are the ones who pay them. My audience is small (And so far I only interacted with four of my readers) but I always try to remain friendly and cordial to my customers.
Being a game developer/publisher, a writer, or a filmmaker is no different from running a bakery. Your bread must at least be palatable and you must be nice to customers, even give the freshest bread to that customer who buys daily. You must be nice to paying customers, both as proper business manners and as a way to secure your income.

More foot shooting: Fallout 76 advertised a high quality canvas bag with a Power Armor mask for the 200$ collectors edition. Instead purchasers got a cheap nylon bag. When outrage was posted, bethesda offered 5$ of in game currency as an apology, stating that the canvas bag was a prototype, and that mass producing those for collectors editions worked to be way too expensive to make.

The real kicker is that the in game version of the same bag is 7$ of the bethesda currency.

GOG community manager who was fired, was was made to fire by "games journalists" from his next job as well over non-malicious tweets.

And those journalists haphazardly use the winging terminology. This time, "right-wing".

I hope Exclusively Videogames succeeds, but not really because of the guy leading it, but to support that bullied community manager. He deserved better. GOG is a mess in regards to SJW handling. Most of the time the higher ups don't care, but when things hit the fan they let the SJWs inside the company call the shots.

Actually her involvement with GamerGate was the result of her making it into mainstream media. The truth is she's not even tech-savvy herself and most gamers noticed that the moment she gained fame.

It was the result of her personally knowing a board member of the New York Times through his sister and a mutual co-worker, and having the story pitched by one of Microsoft's PR agents. All to prove that there is no collusion, nobody is doing favors for their friends, and there are no industry gatekeepers with special access to big businesses like Microsoft. And if you argue that there are, they can have you kicked off most of the Internet and blacklisted by most Silicon Valley employers. No collusion at all, people! Don't ask how unemployed Zoe hired three lawyers from Robert Mueller's law firm to represent her.

As someone on the thread pointed out, I think it's just Vox Media desperately trying to drum up clicks. They've had to lay off a ton of people lately. They're not doing well at all.

Not well at all is an understatement. According to Tim Pool, who reports on similar issues, both Vox, and Vice (Where he used to work at) as well as other news sources tied to "SJWs" are hemorrhaging beyond repair. Most of them are not just laying off employees, they can't even afford keeping the ones they didn't lay off for much longer. That is many of these companies might not reach 2020 in their current state.
They assumed, based on unreliable data, that they could make an earning from appealing to what the aforementioned data, coming from specific circles and organizations, told them Millennials and later generations wanted to see. But the truth is nobody beyond those specific circles and organizations wants that or likes that. So they literally lost most of the human population, and therefore ad revenue. Not to mention the emergence of tools such as AdBlock also bled them.

No wonder why sjw's are going after anime; the best selling manga in 2017 sold 11.5 million copies; the best selling comic book sold 303k copies.

I could see that argument. Basically just having a tantrum because what they've destroyed isn't successful.

Forgot to say this part.
But really, that's not why. They've been going after anime for years. Anime depicts women as being attractive and gives them breasts, they don't care about identity politics, and so on.

Anime actually brings controversial topics which they intend to keep hidden to the forefront. For example one of my favorite Anime series ever is Speed Grapher. It brings valid criticism to capitalist societies without bringing literal communist arguments.
During the main plot it is mentioned how focusing on money instead of life quality brings ruin to people, but at no moment communism is brought as a solution. And there are also other controversial themes in that series which I would rather not spoil because it would be boring to do so.
Almost all anime series have some strong social commentary or an idea Western societies could be offended by. One example often brought by Westerners (because they get offended) are sexual taboos discussed in plot lines. Things such as incest, paraphilias, age gaps (Often between two adults), class or power differences between partners (Often depicted in a guy in love with a rich woman or a woman in love with a superior), homosexuality, bisexuality. Such themes were commonplace in Japanese media even before WWII.
The very fact that a culture could discuss such things without the existence of "social justice" or "intersectionality" and that it would expand beyond the Western overton window, often offends SJWs.
Other controversial themes such as anti corporatism, environmentalism focused on repairing instead of hating on humanity, nationalism, and a militarist stance on anti war action (Example GATE) are anathema to SJWs.
Anime, due to the culture it is born from, a culture historically less puritanical, more nationalistic, more spiritual and environmentally focused (Since pollution creates evil kami) and curiously more mercantile yet less corporatist, than post war Western cultures.
SJWs in particular are extremely opposite to Japanese culture. Extremely puritanical, globalist, fanatically atheist and shallowly environmentalist (They will cry about global warming but will contribute to it buying soy and avocado in large amounts), and both in favor of communism (often rebranded socialism) yet at the same time strongly corporatist.
Attractive women are the tip of the iceberg of why SJWs would detest anime. I know because I was almost an SJW back in college, shamefully influenced by teachers in high school to the point that I literally believed the ludicrous concept of "communism works". I, despite loving anime in my school years, developed a deep seated hatred toward its "misogynistic depiction of women" and "perversion, often advocating things such as pedophilia." Of course years later, when I realized those ideas were ideas I was bullied into take and not mine, I simply returned to anime in full force and shamelessly.

Whelp this one's a doozy, about 3 weeks ago Sargon was banned for calling his alt right harassers a racial slur on a channel he wasnt in charge of on youtube. From 10 months ago.

Now, another reason stated for banning him is because he harassed Anita Sarkeesian, which Patreon themselves held an investigaion on went on record stating he didnt violate any of their rules.

Now theres breaking news on twitter

About how the rules stating he got banned because he broke the rules… That were instated after he was banned.

And that offering the reinstatement process is a guarenteed means to get back on the platform.

Oh and somehow gamergate 2014 is a reason to suspect his character.

But the big tell about what's wrong is now more alarming. As within those tweets waybacked to december 15th, days after Sargon was banned, is the highlighted statement on pateon's webpage that now essentially reads "we can ban you for anything we find offensive" and its posted as a "aha! See this was instated before the 18th!" Sargon was banned on the 7th.

Anyway expect to see more "gamergate has always been about hatred" articles in the near future.

I find Sargon's situation extremely disturbing on the macro scale. I personally am not very fond of Sargon due to some incidents in the past and a few of his stances on censorship (ironic) but I believe everyone should defend him in this case because someday it could be done upon us.
Any and all retroactive punishments are unfair, since they could be enforced upon people who did something entirely legal by the time they did so.
Let us take as example the prohibition era, in which alcohol sale, purchase, and consumption, were illegal. The law was however not retroactive, otherwise everyone born literally ten years before prohibition began would have become a criminal since back in the early 20th century and before almost everyone 10 years and older would have at least tried one alcoholic beverage, sold one, or purchased one (Go buy dad a beer, Timmy).
However there are many cases in which, independently of all other factors, laws are enforced retroactively. Only the cases where a direct physical harm, such as murder and animal abuse, take place is understandable to punish someone retroactively.
The precedent set by Sargon's public execution is terrible, but actually not very rare. The author of Ruroni Kenshin was arrested for owning material which he legally purchased at a time in which it was legal. Regardless of one's position on the legality of such material, the fact that it was NOT a crime to buy it when he did should ne enough to absolve him. However people dmand his head on a platter instead of questioning why it was legal back then to begin with.
Retroactive punishment of acts that do not cause direct physical damage such as ownership of something illegal or acting in a way some arbitrary position forbade is unfair and generally used to cover up the lawmaker's incompetence and lack of foresight regarding a crime or act.

The "we can ban you for anything we find offensive"idea is bad enough because it comes across like not wanting a set rule set so they don't have to hold everyone to the same standard and make it impossible to know what you can or cannot do but trying to enforce that retroactively is just horrible and I wonder if not grounds for a legal suit.

The idea they thought this would make them look better is insanely stupid seriously just reinstate him and make it so these things are CLEARLY stated as now being the rules trying to retroactively make it an against the rules just makes you look bad

Disturbing thing is that website owners can ban you for no reason. Remember: It's not regulated what you're allowed to delete.

Remember the phrase. Point at a man and I will tell you a crime. If allowed, those in places of authority would gladly make up any excuse to penalize anything or punish anyone. Even if there is no harm done, anything can be a crime.

You're feeding a stray cat? It is illegal. You're contributing to the stray cat population.
You're helping a student pick up her books? It is a crime, you're a sexual deviant.
You ordered a pizza past 5:30 P.M.? You are an offender, you broke the curfew!

Everything, even if no one is hurt or even if it is actually beneficial could be made into a crime. This world is tainted by authoritarian forces.

Death Metal Label Shuts Down After Paypal, Credit Processors Pull Out Due To DOJ, FDIC Initiative

However, Elegy Records’ Rob told DeathMetal.org that this blacklisting isn’t necessarily limited to just PayPal and creditors. According to Rob, this started with the DOJ’s Operation Choke Point, and has been expanding ever since…

“When the processors would run a check on me and my business it comes back as HIGH RISK and RERPUTATIONAL RISK some of the red flags come back as: Promoting hate speech, promoting rape, promoting violence and promoting hatred.

“An absolute atrocious characterization and a very convenient way of fusing music band names, titles to an actual call to arms. The slightly veiled assertion is one that marks me as one who is inciting these actions. The overlords now wish to control what you can sell and what you can purchase. Speaking with a few individuals within the banking system (underwriters) as well as other labels [I learned that] this started with Operation Choke Point from the DOJ to curtail predatory lending, which, like most [rulings] has now expanded its tentacles.”

I wonder who they rely on to run this reputation risk analysis.

From an earlier report on operation Choke Point:

Equally disturbing is that once a bank cut off services to a business, regulators pressured the bank to claim the action as their own, effectively covering up the government’s involvement.

This might explain those SanFranBans where you get banned for no stated reason and no one's talking.

I have read some data on this. Many banking companies and lobbysts have decided to control media to prevent people from thinking independently, and they censor anyone who does not fall in line.
As time passes, the whole New World Order conspiracy theory feels less as a theory and more as a legit conspiracy. It is time to fight back, and seek means to get rid of payment processors and excessive banking power, before it kills us.
Also, happy new year.

Small reminder, for those out of the know. The articles posted here have to reflect back to #gamergate to ge relevant.

So for those wondering why a goverment financial opperation in 2013 looks be targeting supporters of a 2014 consumer revolt that was coined by Adam "Jayne Cobb" Baldwin and reviewed not to be a threat by the FBI…

It's because Anitia Sarkeesian insisted the revolt was acually a harassment campaign against her and game developers. One of the people she associated with that hashtag was investigated by Patreon at her request. The investigation turned up negative, and that person, Sargon, got to keep his account.

Now, Sargon was removed from Patreon because he called a few of his harassers white "naggers." Since Sargon can't call anyone the N-word even months ago undetected on a channel he doesn't own with only 400 views… He was pulled and was told to apologize. When he enquired about the strike policy Patreon cited the precious investigaion he was dismissed as innocent from as that previous warning.

Since Patreon's Trust and Safety Council has stated they've offered oppertunites for him to get his account back and have doubled down on theirl revised rules cincerning this matter, several contributers to their site are leaving. Now more evidence is cropping up that the decision that Pateron pulled might have to do with Paypal/stripe who could be acting under Mastercard/Visa. And Mastercard/Visa might be carrying out operation chokepoint… On people they determine as dangerous.

TL;DR

People deemed as threats without proof are getting funding pulled by patreon. Because one of them is loosely related to gamergate… The posts ended up here.

I believe on the grand scale, it's less of a deliberate, organized thing (although that is a possibility) and more like something of a spirit. They're not likely deliberately working together, they just share the same inherently evil ideologies and motives. They don't really care about each other, they'll literally throw their own family under the bus if it meant them getting ahead in any capacity. In fact, I'm sure many of them have.

"The love of money is the root of all evil."

But then again, we've had so many alleged conspiracy theories get proven as fact (or at least have a mountain of legit evidence to back them up), and we know that the "Elites" have no problem diving into the darkest, most immoral of activities, so… Yeah…

The whole GamerGate story is just insane. It practically reads like a really weird comic book plot.

It all starts out with an objectively ugly, (both in personality and appearance), pathologically abusive woman abusing her boyfriend and sleeping around with journalists (and whoever else) in exchange for coverage of the miserable pile of code she had the gall to call a video game. Said boyfriend then publicly writes about his abusive girlfriend, detailing her psychotic and amoral behavior. This starts a firestorm accusation from the girlfriend's camp.

Around the same time, a con artist runs a Kickstarter campaign to create a video series about how everything in video games is sexist and racist. These videos are very lackluster and their content is poorly researched at best (but mostly just outright lies).

Shortly after, the same journalists and more publish dozens of hit pieces on nearly every platform and news outlet there is announcing that "Gamers are Dead," all within 2 hours of the same day. The baseless accusations and incendiary tone of the articles are painfully obvious.

This results in thousands of gamers mobilizing a counter movement against their detractors. "GamerGate." The con artist becomes a focus GG's, due to her demonization of gamers and men in general, and the abusive girlfriend inserts herself into everything she can. Other crazy and morally bankrupt people (IE, SJWs) throw their hats in as well.

The opposing groups and individuals have never had this level of resistance before. Nearly every other time they've tried to take over an industry or community, they were able to with little resistance. People just didn't think enough about what they were really doing and those who did were condemned for not being progressive. This time, the community steps up and fights back.

They have a conniption. They and everyone on their side have been dominating media, academia, and society as a whole for almost the last 20 years. Having connections and friends in the media, academia and other industries, they do everything they can to demonize and destroy the very concept of "gamers" and "video games" as a whole, and even the concepts of "quality," "good," and "fun." The depths of their collusion goes insidiously deep. Media lockouts and shadow-banning happen across nearly every platform on the internet. Doxxing goes on completely ignored. If you're not aggressively anti-GG, you're less than human.

Despite having very little support and little to no funding, GG quickly gains the upper hand. The actions of GG spur on and encourage others to finally speak out against movements and groups that have been openly and proudly hating them for years.
Now it's not just video games and journalism, the collective is being confronted at all fronts, and is losing. They pull out every underhanded trick and attack they have.

And to wrap this up because I've spent too long writing this- GamerGate ultimately wins. Nearly every major opponent has been found to be guilty of everything they've accused GG supporters of and far worse, and several publications and companies were rendered defunct.

The collective's actions wholly expose themselves. Their corruption is now getting exposed regularly, the trust in their media outlets are in the toilet, and countless criminal enterprises can be tied directly to them. They are losing power fast, so now they're openly abusing their influence to silence their opponents, anyone they deem guilty of "Wrong think," even if it means breaking every code of ethics there is and even the law and losing customers.

This is going to end in one of two ways for them.
1) Other companies and platforms will be created to substitute and replace the corrupt ones.
2) Federal lawsuits will be filed against the companies that have been acting illegally/unethically.

And both already happening. It's just a question of how quickly this will happen and how severe.

And both already happening. It's just a question of how quickly this will happen and how severe.

From my personal standpoint it does feel like some sort of fictional story. GamerGate pretty much changed my outlook in life, and because of that change I wrote a novel, lost weight, met a woman I am in love with, met some of my best friends, and learned many things both in terms of experience and knowledge, which make the world look a lot more complex and far from what people find "normal."

It all started because someone said gaming was misogyny while I was in class, and from there I dipped into so many things I even found out some weird things I would have been more comfortable ignoring or at least would make me less willing to defy the status quo if I didn't know those truths.

I researched the laws in my country and others, I researched laws through history (because of my novel), I learned about ancient technologies which were later rediscovered, about mythology, medicine, fitness, and many other things. Reading on Spartans while writing one of my characters encouraged me to get fit, and from a depressive fat male feminist loser who felt he was an incel I turned into a rather muscular, wholesome, witty novelist (And a bit of a chick magnet) volcel (Yeah, I am still celibate, but only because I am not into casual sex).

GamerGate made me go from self loathing and suffering to confidence and serenity.

Dunno about you, but my life quality improved because of the ideological changes GamerGate brought to me. Which is sincerely weird because I just wanted to play video games, and when I saw many crappy SJW stories I decided to write my own story. It all started because of GamerGate…

I should write an article titled GamerGate saved my life… Based on the repeated times someone says "GamerGate ruined my life".

Wow, GamerGate is still going? Jesus!
Also what's GamerGate about again?

An endless cycle of death and reanimation. After all the whole thing pretty much ended in 2015, but ever since then everytime someone on the far left or mainstream media outlets is not having a good day, GamerGate is forcefully revived.

Just a few posts before yours there was an abridged chronology of it. But to shorten it even further, just let us have good games! Seriously, if the gaming industry was not negatively harmed by censorship and anti consumer practices, the whole thing would have never happened. In fact while many blame Zoe Quinn, we could say one of the earliest causes was actually the Doritos Pope incident.

Please do write that article. People need to hear about stuff like that. I'd share it where I can.

Not to play devil's advocate here, but would you want to disclose that you had a personal relationship with that pile?

Yeah, because its your duty to the public and your profession to do so. If its your profession and you want to get paid… yeah I would do that if I was in that situation. I'm already a nurse, I know other nurses who have to come in and remind everyone that they got in trouble for a DUI (they even had to notify the college). It's even more embarrassing that it has almost little to do with their field of work but you know what they tell me? "If you want to be trusted by the people you work for, you better fucking be willing to admit where you might be fucking up".

It's really obvious by now that because journalists have no accountability, they're encouraged to be as scummy and as unethical as possible. Another potential reason the journalists don't provide disclosure is because it'll make them stand out compared to other co-workers and they'll get the social justice treatment if they do that. Last but not least, it'd really obvious how inbred the industry is if every article on an indie title had the words "Journalist name has a personal relation with developer name" on every article.

I think it was a question about shame. I would certainly refuse to admit I ever even spoke on a personal basis to someone like Quinn.

Well, yeah, that was kinda the point. Though now that I think about it, that could just mean you've had personal experience with her.

Er, no, I mean that… I'm having a hard time thinking of a way to say it without it feeling nasty.

Not Quinn, but I had a classmate in college who was Mexican Zoe Quinn. Of course that was about half a decade ago.

So this happened in Overwatch
As explained by a redditor since that I'm that lazy to explain the whole thing:

"Low level account no one had ever heard of rockets to the very top echelons of competitive overwatch in a very short space of time, was signed to a JV competitive team. Female user on mic had delayed/bad callouts, other red flags. Some people called bullshit, said it reeked of boosting or not being legit. Media and whiteknights freak the fuck out, make it into a big thing about how sexist gamers are etc etc, turns out it was fake and bullshit.
Again.
Now the white knights are (predictably) freaking out (again) and doubling down proclaiming "It was just a social experiment and it's just proving how you're all sexist!" ".
-
TL;DR version: Someone did a social experiment to fake an outrage so the media can blame toxic masculinity and gamers
Game journalists made articles about it without doing any research
-
And I'm just sitting here wheezing from all of this
-
xd

The Washington Post has a second terrorist op-ed writer. I guess they decided that "Democracy Dies in Darkness" is not as exciting and progressive as "Death to America. Curse the Jews."

How does this relate to #gamergate?

The only way I see it is that Washington Post had reported about the movement unfairly and this calls their practices into question. Otherwise it seems a tad irrelevant to the thread.

Also about that overwatch contraversy (ethics in games journalism)

Looks like Kotaku is on full backpedal along with the team that hoaxed the account. Depends on what you read it's either:

"It doesn't matter if the mysertious female player existed or not, the fact that her existance was questioned is evidence if toxic masculinity in the gaming culture" -Polygon

"We didn't fact check because of dead lines and a post first, ask questions later environment" -Nathan 'I work for kotaku' Grayson

"It was a social experiment to see how the environment would act to a female pro player" – Team Second Wind

Are those first two real quotes? Because if so those might be the most ass-backward attempts to save face I have seen.

So questioning whether or not you're being lied to is now misogyny. Good to know.
