So, I know there's already a thread for this, but there are 2 reasons I'm remaking this. 1st, it doesn't show on the Forum frontpage anymore for some reason, and 2, we just plain need a refresh.

So, for a while now, we've had a concept about making a game out of KYM. We got a few people together, but it did not get off the ground. Now I propose that we actually make this a reality. We are going to need characters, plot, etc.

Anyone wanting to be in the game is at least going to have to be a major KYM user. That means use the site often, and don't be an annoying troll. You're also going to have to going to make a backstory and weapons, attacks, concept appearance, etc. If you want to be someone who puts a lot of work into this RPG, then you'll probably have a bigger role in the story. Your role in the story will be decided on how much you contribute to the site, and how much you contribute to the RPG, and how long you've been on KYM. The more established you are, the bigger the role.

We have a capable developer (I think), but we also need scriptwriters. We also need people to pitch in ideas for the story. We also need memes to put in the game, but don't saturate it. Don't fill it with ponies, or Touhou, or anime. However, we do plan to throw in all the KYM mini-memes, such as CAMOAWAM, Cheato, Lionks, etc.

Right now we need to decide on a premise for the game. Anyone who wants to be put into the game or work on it should let us know. Natsuru, Ashbot, Suiseiseki and I are in the game, and we need more people. If you seem competent, we'll put you in, and we'll share the link to the shared notepad where we do our work, but fuck with it, and we'll put you in the project in a bad manner.

Now, let's make this a good game.

I want to be in this game, as I am an active user, and I was working with the previous attempt at the KYM RPG. Should you accept me to be a playable character in the game, I'll make sure to put a lot of work in the game.

Character: Kalmo

Abilities:

Declaring Shout – Decreases Enemy Defense
Enrage – Increases Attack by 20%
Combustible Lemons – Throws 1-5 Combustible Lemons at the enemy, causing fire damage.
Dislogic – Confuses the enemy, which may cause them to harm themselves.

Weapons:

Lemon Launchers – Changes stats of Combustible Lemons ability.
Sword and Shield – Can do physical damage and defend
Hammer – Physical damage only

Appearance:
A non-copyright looking version of Scott Pilgrim ( I do kind of look like that IRL)

Backstory:

W.I.P.

I could help. Not with editing and making the game itself, but with the story and whatnot.

Character: Derpy Hooves

Abilities:

Muffins – Heals selected party member's HP slightly
Letter Barrage – Throws 5-10 letters at a all enemies, causing damage
Flight – Takes flight for 3 turns, decreasing the chances of getting hit by grounded attacks
Derp – Confuses enemy

Weapons: Uses letters as projectiles and also uses letter openers as knives and uses brute force

You're pretty new, but you're cool, for a newcomer. Just make sure you plan on being on KYM from now until the game comes out.

So, may I ask for a bit more info on the nature of the game? For example, is it going to be a mod of an existing game? Or entirely custom? Is it supposed to be in-browser, like a flash game? What sort of RPG are we talking about? Is it going to be the sort where it's a railroad plot but the game play elements are RPG? Or a bit more choose your adventure but with a lot more gameplay involved?

This is where the basic combat skills are familiarized.
Theoretically in a turn based environment, you will have…
1. Attack
2. Magic
3. Item
4. Strategy

Attack: melee or ranged. Hand to hand combat also.
Magic: Elemental damage single/all; Healing single/all; conditioning cure/resurrection in due time.
Item: use of items (need a script of usable items meme related and such)
Strategy: run away; formation ; individual strategy (protect, defend,use Max lulz, save lulz, focus on healing).

And Im sticking with my mage moveset, however my new character costume design mainly is a short Kimono simmilar to my last avatar. (And I might re-write my moveset to make room for a second mage.)

I'm not sure about my design or moves. Though I'm thinking I'll do a little class change thing, one for both my personalities.

Remember, this is why we do character redesigns.

If someone has the programming for an old turnbased engine like for SNES (Chrono trigger, ff,) or a real time like (tales of phantasia, secret of Mana, star ocean ) . A good combat engine is a must for RPG. I personally favor the turn based cause I think it might be easier to make…

@Katie: Once you have decided on your design I am still willing to draw it. Same goes for anyone who want's their character design to be their own thing.
@Jack: Nothing is confirmed yet, but you might want to consider what role you wish to play. (Hey, a "Pokemon Master" character wouled not be such a bad idea!)

We were aiming for Final Fantasy style gameplay and initative bars. But if that doesn't work out I have a alternative style of gameplay we can use.

Nice. This has potential if followed through with. Character designs are good to have but when and where they make their appearances is key. I will help if Im allowed only because I'm a huge fan of 90s rpgs and feel like I can have positive input. ^^

Cool! To be honest I personally prefer the tales style because it feels like the player is more involved in the combat, and less like you've just got to believe that the random number god will favor you, but either way I'll play it. I've still got to ask, will the player be allowed to shape the story as it progresses, sort of like in chrono trigger so that the final foe you face and the ending you get depends on what you decided to do?

@ArdentGamer: Despite the fact I took game theory in college, this is my first RPG style game; so I want to keep the story linear to avoid programing issues. FF style= Flashier, but Tales Of style= more action packed. I have yet to discuss it with everyone yet.

Fair enough, plenty of awesome games (EarthboundEarthboundEarthbound) are completely railroad in terms of story. I look forward to finding out what style you settle upon. In the meantime I suppose I will contribute any relevant ideas I have regarding the story and such.

Oh, so maybe you guys should tell us a bit about some of the details that are little more locked in right now, for example, from what I can gather from some earlier comments it looks like you have a few characters sort of floating around, but there isn't a whole lot about them I can tell from what little is said. I mean, if possible it'd be nice to get ideas that mesh with most of the ideas and concepts you already have fairly well solidified, right?

But of course I would like to be in this (again). I'll keep my same moveset, but I really need to do a better job of naming my moves. I have no idea what I want to do for my character design though.

Only been here shortly but I've been active since I've joined..

Character: Lunacy
Class: Battlemage

Abilities: -Magic, all sorts of magic, master of the elements. ubar heal spellz
  -Able to do nearly anything with magic
  -giant inventory including weapons and items

Weapons: usually offensive spells, can conjure weapons

Backstory: Pops into the game through one of his portals. "yey new world to have fun in"
Most of my lore is kept to myself as I've been too lazy to draw/upload anything, so all the info's in my head.
Personality: Fun-leveled, but serious when necessary. Sometimes gloomy or dark, sometimes bright and happy. Not often straight-forward.
 
 
As for anything else in the game my only use will be to randomly toss ideas. :3

By common RPG law, we shouled not have more than 8 or 10. However, since we have Midbattle Party Switch and 5 battlers at a time we can probably have about 15.

I'd really like to try and help, but I want to take it in a different approach.

Character: Hugh "Flower" Detson.

Statbuild:Defense (Primary)/Offense (Secondary)

Weaponry:

Improvised Cheese Grater Gauntlets (Equipped)

Kitchen Knife

Attacks:

Basic Attack-Uses whatever is available to damage the foe. (Normal)

Basic Guard-Scrunches up to reduce damage done by attacks during that turn. (Normal)

Improved Guard [4SP]-Uses current weaponry along with previous 'naturally learned defense techniques' to try to parry some of the attack back. Has a chance of slight knockback damage. (Normal/Counter)

I'll Help You Block! [6SP]-Readies legs to step in front of another teammate to help raise the teammate's defense. Can only select one teammate at a time. (Stat Boost)

Bash [3SP]-Knocks the enemy harder than normal, giving it that "Hemadbra" attitude. Has a slight chance of stun. (Normal/Status)

Abilities:

Thick: Damage done to target with Fire and Ice elements are reduced.

Improvise (Character Specific): Can create and modify weapons based on current level and inventory. Give him duct tape, and he'll probably be able to attach anything to anything.

Autistic: Some enemies have a chance of missing when attacking the character with this ability.

Items: Basic Cloth-Can be used either for crafting, improvising, or basic healing.
4 Quarters and 3 Pennies-basic monetary value. Probably worth nothing here.

Appearance:
A bit overweight, but still has a slight build.
Mild tan covers skin.
Washed but unkempt hair, short, Brown.
Hazel Eyes.
6ft, 3in.
220 pounds.
17 Years of age.
Usually wears mattress shorts accompanied by a T-Shirt.
Yes, he's wearing boxers too ya nitwit.
Runs with NB crossrunners.
Keeps around Dad's graduation gift, a rather expensive watch.
Sometimes pops his thumbs. Creepy.

Backstory: While being the autistic kid is was, Hugh was doing his usual; scouring through various sources about Ponies and watching Youtube Videos while simultaneously bring a lazy bum. Although well in ability to make friends, he felt that it wouldn't be meaningful since his life revolves around very few things (Religion, Family, Internet, and earlier, Scouting). It doesn't help either that he often plays around with the kitchen cutlery, and one too many times has his dad come home to him doing silly little jumps and knife slashes. Which later earned Hugh a spanking in the earlier days (Now it left him without Internet time, which made him very…meh'd.)
As he's looking around the current page of KnowYourMeme, he spots an odd thread in the forums; The KnowYourMemeRPG. He clicks on it, and suddenly POOF! He vanishes into a strange realm. Bloody Thread must of had some magic innit! Upon waking up (Because he obviously wasn't aware during the warp to the most peculiar land), he finds himself in a stone observatory jutting on top of a castle.
The only noticable sounds appear to be coming from a nearby stairwell, and they don't sound human…For some reason, Two possessions besides the ones on him are lying on the floor as well, some Cheese Graters, and a Kitchen Knife. Taking the graters in a gauntlet type of fashion, he looks around for anything else useful. He finds some ratted old cloth, and figures the best thing to do would be to pad the graters (Wouldn't want to get any scrapes!) with it. He has plenty left however, so with a good size portion of the rest of the cloth, he forms a sort of scabbard for his knife, and keeps a little left over for a rudimentary sort of bandage. Taking a whimpering, although defensive stance, he waits for whatever is making those sounds, hoping that maybe someone else was sent to this castle…

Howz that look? I mean, this is just first draft I guess, before we get into major rules. Sorry if this looks plain godawful, I guess I should of put a few more hours into the thought behind it. Or maybe I shouldn't have done it at all .-. curse my real life Auty.

Wait, I should give out ideas, right? Well, I could throw out a few certain things.
Like…
Maybe the characters are sent to a realm where memes control the face of the earth?
Perhaps The evil side of Copyright is gaining a physical form in real life, and you have been sent alongside others by the government because you can see the monsters that Evil Copyright creates (To the normal human eye, they look like colored gas balls). The monsters are dubbed as memes, and maybe for the first fights your using basic tools around the home or where you are. Like, maybe my character is actually at Kohls, and when the monsters show up he grabs some tools from the kitchen section. Maybe some of the characters are together at the time, maybe some are alone.

…Again, terrible idea. I'm just wingin it, being nearly 5AM in the morning. I'll sub to this thread, I'd really like to help out when I aint tired.

Actually Gaston, I think it's a pretty good start. Only I personally would make the Government more like an evil cult that created Censorship. We would need everyone to help decide on how it starts though. But again, good start.

Edit: Just a thought! Maybe there can be a level up to get new abilities and it can be like the ranking system on KYM.

I still have my half-finished movelist from last time, can I re-use what I've got so far or are the moves in a different format this time?

Also, can I be Osaka?
