What? Oh, god. No, I meant the picture. It's clearly satire.

Turn 13
The World
First World Tech: Combustion Engine, Electricity, Telephone, Radio, Metallurgy, Biology, Chemistry, Rocketry, Rifle, Howitzer, Machine Gun, Tank, Atomic Bomb, Modern Medicine, SPG, Computers, Modern Fleet, Ballistics, Monoplane, Radar, Missile Defense, Adv. Biology (Japan, Syraus), Solar Power (Divus), Laser (Divus), Genetic Alteration (Japan), Jet (Divus), Adv. Armors (Orobostan)
Second World Tech: Combustion Engine, Electricity, Telegraph, Radio, Metallurgy, Biology, Chemistry, Ballistics, Rifle, Howitzer, Machine Gun, Biplane, Modern Fleet, Tank, Modern Medicine
Third World Tech: Steam Engine, Electricity, Telegraph, Metallurgy, Biology, Chemistry, Rifle, Howitzer, Ironclad
-Advanced aeronautics are no longer the secret of Japan and Elysium, as the rest of the First World has caught up with their research. The biplane is a thing of the past now.
-In the global panic about intercontinental missiles and nuclear weapons many have dreamed up defensive solutions to detect and intercept attacks on their country. Radar has been invented, ending the stealth factor of bombers, and missile interception weapons have been created, giving First World countries a chance to fend off some of the ICBMs that might be sent their way. In the event of nuclear war, these two developments will be critical in saving millions of lives.
-The biplane and modern ship designs have come into production in the Second World. Electric lights and other electronic devices are now commonly produced and used in Third World cities. The steam engine is now ubiquitous as well, even in the land of the Roses, which has for so long resisted industrialization and integration with the modernizing world.
-Txabesco and Sprawl have advanced enough to be considered among a higher technology group.
-The atomic bomb has proliferated so much throughout the First World that its inner workings can no longer be considered a secret.
-Japan's Unit 731 has mastered a process of genetic mutation that has given them control over small features in a developing organism's DNA. This has led to the potential for future customization in human genes, a development that is being called "the designer baby." Of course it remains prohibitively expensive and the process is still a state secret.
-Divusian Class One engineers have developed the jet engine, which gives planes even greater speed, maneuverability, and climbing potential.
-Powerful armors developed in Orobostan have enabled the creation of lightweight, extremely tough bulletproof jackets and helmets.
-The efforts of Striatian and Txabescan rocket programs has successfully brought down the price of production for ballistic missiles, enabling the whole second world to produce them.

-With Japanese help the fleets succeed in surrounding and destroying the Third Suiyekharti Fleet, forcing their Fifth fleet to retreat north. The armies fare much more poorly; the Second and Third have been destroyed, and the Fourth is only barely inflicting damage upon the enemy, rapidly retreating as the Suiyekharti forces advance ever farther north. They do their best to forestall the enemy, resorting to defensive maneuvers that give ground in exchange for time and engaging in guerrilla combat whenever possible, but it seems that Suiyektu's forces are unstoppable with Txabesco's present capabilities.
-Starlove temples are requested to give what they can to the war effort. The Despot reaches out to the clergy for their assistance, and they surrender what they can for their nation.
-The economy is desperately overhauled to be invested totally into the war effort, with guns being produced domestically as often as possible to make up for a lack of foreign imports.
-Grogu is built up defensively, with trenches and minefields being laid about in the surrounding countryside. To prepare for the inevitable siege, a huge stockpile of salted and smoked fish is prepared, stored away in various makeshift granaries throughout the city.
-Taxes are lowered on foreigners in an attempt to get their investment for the war effort, but there are very few takers. As it turns out, private businesses are not interested in setting up shop on a battlefield.

-The First Army is sent to reinforce Hessaria, however, a Japanese blockade has prevented them from landing.
-The Hessarian isles are successfully blockaded alongside Zarisian fleets.
-An air force is established separate from the army.
-New conversion camps are opened to isolate Unitologists who have yet still refused to accept the true faith. Beside the isolation and having been robbed of their homes and livelihoods, the camps actually provide Unitologists with a better life than anywhere else in Syraus, where they are frequently lynched for practicing their beliefs. An ethics committee is established to oversee the camps, comprised of converts who have renounced Unitology; this being done to keep Zeist purists from allowing them to turn into death camps.
-Modifications to the national propaganda machine have turned people away from racism. Slightly.
-An arsenal of biological weapons such as Anthrax are stockpiled.
-Reconstruction and resettlement begins in Seahurst as the last Unitologists in the region have left for foreign shores or have been rounded up into conversion camps.
Orobostan (ProfessorRivers)

Issues: War Exhaustion (extreme)
-The fleets are chased out of Zaris back to the main islands by Elysium, whereupon they complete their hounding by surrounding and sinking the entire navy.
-Onvast, for a short time, was the world leader in whale product exports as the burgeoning whaling industry quickly took off and was then severely restricted by the onset of war on the islands.
-Weapons imports and officer training from Suiyektu have succeeded in bringing much of the army up to First World standards, but the overwhelming numerical superiority and experience of Elysium's armies were too much to overcome. Their invasion has succeeded in occupying the entire archipelago and annihilating both the armies and the fleets.

-A great part of the navy is sent to Zaris to engage the Coalition fleets only to find them ready to depart for various parts of the world. The ensuing fight leads into a chase, scattering the Elysian fleets to all corners of the globe as the relentlessly chase down the enemy.
-The Fourth Suiyektu fleet has begun bombarding Elysian cities around the capital, disheartening the people and bringing war to the heartlands for the first time in Ambrosian history.
-The battle of the Kathian Sea is won and the Suiyekharti fleets there are destroyed. The armies take to their transports and land in DPRK territory, initiating war with the communist state. They have advanced deep into enemy territory, but constant guerrilla attacks combined with the onset of a deadly winter has stalled the taking of their capital.
-The emperor surrenders his absolute power, establishing a parliament and granting it legislative power. Representatives from across the country assemble in this new parliament, each representing an autonomous federal district. The nation is renamed "The Elysian Union" in light of this development.
-The new government sets to work breaking down nationalism across the country, reaffirming their internationalist ideology by aligning with socialism and rebranding Van Hoffman's revolution as one of global unity, rather than Ambrosian supremacy. The main point of debate now is how to overcome the language barrier between states; naturally, Ambrosian continues to be used as the primary tongue due to centuries of dominance, but increasing is the use of Cuban, Egyptian, Fittish, Divusian, and even Kathian and Korean.
-Work is begun on building a new, administrative city north of Cuba, called Elysian Fields. From the foundations the city is being designed to take full advantage of all modern technologies, its roads and subway systems carefully planned out for maximum efficiency. Because of the war, and the presently shabby state of the new model city, the government cannot yet be moved.
-A global propaganda campaign is encouraging intellectuals the world over to come to Elysium to take advantage of the opportunities present in the internationalist system.
-The Elysian economy has long been shifting towards consumerism and the service industry due to its place as a first rate industrial world power. However, the increasing difficulty of trade due to global war has made it impossible to keep industry overseas, and Elysium's economy is largely self sufficient as a result. Japan continues to constitute more than three quarters of all trade volume, a figure which is always rising as the war continues on.
-More foreign spies are uncovered each day, although the most skilled and deeply involved agents have long since been purged.
-Anti guerrilla tactics are employed against rebel forces, emphasizing humane treatment of civilians to prevent further uprisings. A lack of manpower is cited by the generals as the greatest reason that the rebels have not yet been put down. It seems that, wherever they go to stop a rebellion, one appears in the place they just left, and the rebels they were chasing succeed in fleeing to a safer area.
-Nationalist revolts occur in Cuba and Egypt. Kruztatlist communists continue engaging in a bloody campaign of resistance across Fittaland, Korea, and Kathian.
-A major terrorist attack has occurred in Brielle. Bombs have been detonated all throughout the underground, putting the subway system out of work for several months as it is repaired and killing hundreds. The culprits all commit suicide, but based on documents on their persons they are clearly Kathians.
Suiyektu (You Are Reading This)
Doctrines: Mercantilism, Meritocracy, Spies, Draft, Eugenics, Vetting

-First, Second, Third, and Sixth continue to surge north, annihilating the Second and Third Txabescan armies in the mountains and pushing beyond, deep into enemy territory. They are slowed somewhat by the severe winter, which is actually taking a greater toll upon the armies than the ineffective Txabescan defense.
-The Fifth takes a detour into The Roses, destroying one of their armies and succeeding in occupying almost the entire country.
-The Third Fleet is destroyed in an engagement with Txabesco and Japan, and the Fifth retreats to Ponchi. Japanese and Txabescan armies have landed in New Khaan and Narthuria Proper.
-Fourth fleet sails to the undefended coastline of Elysium and Japan, shelling major cities with nerve gas, lowering national morale on that continent.
-The Second and First fleets are destroyed in the Kathian Sea by an Elysian offensive to open the way into landing on DPRK shores.
-Iljigin delivers her child, which turns out to be a set of twins: Üür and Üdshiin, identical females. Tragically, Üür was killed by the administration of a poison meant for Iljigin which accidentally went to the baby instead. After a short investigation a Txabescan spy was revealed as the culprit; he was swiftly and painfully executed.
-The Keshig establish a vetting office. To their surprise, there are almost no spies to be found except for a few agents of Txabesco. They continue their search for foreign agents nonetheless.
-The Negj Nar Madakh, also known as the Sunrise Unit, is established to act as deep cover agents in foreign nations.
-The great scientist, Orkhon Magtal, has died of radiation poisoning pursuing the secrets of the atom. While working with radioactive isotopes he accidentally smacked two samples together, releasing a wave of radioactive particles throughout the lab. His death, and the following deaths of many colleagues working alongside him during this tragic accident, have furthered the field of atomic science considerably as their deaths contribute to their own research.
-A rocket is put into orbit containing a dog, providing valuable information about the plausibility of surviving in a zero gravity environment. A short while later, a manned suborbital is launched, making the Suiyekharti the first people in space.
Divus (Taryn)
Doctrines: Harbor Mirrors
Culture: Crab Cruelty, Stellar Surveyors, Tower of Babel (under construction), Sunnism (religion)
Tech: First World

-The top of the Tower of Babel is fit with a rocket launch pad and pressurized facilities for pilots and engineers to work in. Soon, rockets are being launched regularly from the top. The height of the tower has more than made up for its latitude, saving on fuel that would otherwise have been needed to break the planet's dense lower atmosphere.
-The boon that the tower provides has significantly lowered the cost of the space program, in which the government has been investing almost all of its money. As a result, Divus has made astronomical strides, surging past Suiyektu by placing a man not only in orbit of the earth a few months after they did, but soon thereafter placing a man on the moon as well. Moon visits become increasingly more frequent as rocket designs are improved for efficiency.
-After the fifth moon landing, all successive landings have been permanent. Astronauts are not sent with any way to return home, saving significantly on fuel and allowing them to bring with them construction materials for the making of a permanent, yet not self sufficient, moon base. Rumor has it they are even considering the construction of a new tower on the moon as well.
Striate (Owen, The Communist Tree)

-The periodic table has been declared standard in columns and rows, ending the debate over whether it should be circular or rectangular.
-Regno strait is heavily fortified, and the armies are moved into defensive positions there.
-Observers are sent to Carim and Elysium to study the success of their respective nations. These observers report their findings and put The General in touch with powerful economic contacts there, bringing in new imports to modernize Striate.
-Striatite is further studied and a derivative material, called thermite, is discovered. Weaponized thermite is made in limited quantities for testing in prototype weapons.

-Elysium has declared war and, after destroying the defensive Suiyekharti fleets stationed in the Kathian Sea, has landed troops in the mainland and taken Txhala and Itsason. Fortunately, the timely arrival of the Seventh and Third Armies mean that the DPRK is not completely defenseless, and the combination of guerrilla attacks and the timely onset of winter has kept the enemy from taking the capital.
-The fleets have returned home, with the Elysian navy hot on their heels.
-Muinoar is renamed New Zero Kanada.
-Money is invested in land development and economic growth, although most of it is invested in New Zero Kanada and the surrounding valleys due to the war interrupting regular progress. War factories rise up in these regions as the funding is directed more towards arms and ammunition for the war effort.
-Marco engages in regular speech making in the capital to inspire his people to achieve their fullest potential against the invaders. Some of these speeches are broadcast internationally, to keep inspiring Kruztatlist guerrillas everywhere to keep fighting the good fight. Anti-Elysian propaganda is also distributed on the airwaves between reruns of Marco's speeches, calling their movement "the evil kind of socialist internationalism."
-What mercenaries that can be brought in are hired, although few are willing to take up the cause of a state so doomed as the DPRK. Penal battalions find a much easier time raising manpower, and they are able to encourage the state to make more things illegal so that they can conscript more troops.
-Guerrilla forces are instructed in focalist theory, thus encouraged to organize themselves loosely around small, authoritarian cadres of party leaders for rapid redeployment whenever threatened by an enemy advance.
-Attempts to smooth over relations with other communists have failed. The Second Comintern, meeting in Carmina, has barred Kruztatlists from entry.
Sprawl (Sergeant Arch Dornan)
Doctrines: Egalitarianism, Literacy Program, National Bank, Corporatism, Social Security, Grand Army Reform
Culture: Alien Admiration, Unitology (religion), Knights of Unity
Tech: First World

-Trade with Elysium and Japan is subsidized, bringing in foreign investment and strengthening Sprawl's economy. The armies are also instructed to reform around Japanese and Elysian organization, bringing about the establishment of a single Grand Army, akin to the one established by Ambrosia during their revolution.
-A manga is published called GoGo's Wacky Travels, which becomes rather popular even outside of Sprawl.
-A deranged man, calling himself CIA, has been seen to wander the capital searching for "Bane." He claims that only this man is big enough for him, and he will not rest until he finds him. CIA has become something of a celebrity in Iapetus, with some tourists visiting the city specifically to see the madman.

-The state has fallen. The Fourth Army and its rebel detachment are ordered to disband and reform abroad. Suiyektu graciously donates a small island to the army, which is reorganized there. As it turns out, however, the island is far too small to support all of the Cuban expats, many of whom are forced to settle down and start farms of their own. Much of the native Suiyekharti population leave the island in droves as the Cubans begin planting opium and manufacturing recreational drugs for export to support their army.
-The fleet has been hunted down and destroyed by the Elysian navy.
Zaris (Tyranid Warrior)

-Second and Third Armies are sent to Marienburg, easily taking the city and marching south to help their Hessarian allies in the fight against Japan. The Third is destroyed as the Japanese come to surround them and the Hessarians, and the remaining Second Army is forced to retreat back to the north.
-The Hessarian isles are successfully blockaded alongside Syrausian fleets.
-As a paranoid response to the growing threat of thermonuclear war, the government has started a fallout shelter program, building bunkers throughout the countryside for civilians to retreat into in the event of bombs being dropped near their homes.
-Unitology missions are being uncovered by the inquisition, which suspects foreign funding. Although the missions have gathered few converts, it is a significant cause for concern among the deeply devout Mechanarian populace that anyone would abandon the true faith.
-Probes are launched into orbit, shortly followed by a manned flight.

Culture: Gothic, Olympians, Egalitarianism, Occult Studies, Empire of Bliss, Carimite Heathenry (religion), Unitology (religion), Individualism, Valkyrie Order, Warrior Poets, Electronic Entertainment Industry
Tech: First World
Issues: None
-Carim is declared a neutral state, dropping out of all treaties and obligations involving international conflict.
-Marienburg is attacked by Zarisian armies, violating Carim's newly declared neutrality, who use the city to offload their troops and send supplies to the Hessarian warfront.
-With the development of air travel has come tourism, through commercial airliners, and "air sports" including stunt flyers.
-Static defenses which exist are beautified and transformed into local infrastructure to hide their impact. What cannot be hidden is removed. The military turns towards a doctrine of active defense instead, using radars and air patrol to keep track of potential threats.
-Rockets are launched into space and, although they are beat by Divus and Suiyektu for being first, Carimite astronauts are also able to make orbit.
-The study of the human mind has opened in the new field of psychology. Carim, always forward thinking, has readily embraced the concept of "mental disease," an idea which has been ridiculed by intellectuals in most other countries.
-A stock exchange is established, competing with Elysium's for global prominence. It has succeeded in providing a good alternative market for countries that have a rocky past with Ambrosia, and has given local economies in Oceania an outlet for investment that Elysium, because of its distance, cannot so easily provide.
-Advances in technology have brought about an entertainment revolution, stemming from Carim. Video game systems are being exported in huge numbers and investments in electronics soar. Carim has quickly become famous for its entertainment systems, from televisions to game consoles.

-The First and Fourth Fleets sail to Japan and begin bombarding coastal cities with gas and explosives. The Third and Second, now without assistance, are easily destroyed by the Japanese invader, who engages in a blockade of the continent, preventing the Second Army from moving to the mainland and keeping allied reinforcements from arriving.
-A policy of "No Prisoners, No Surrenders" is adopted. No quarter is accepted, and none is expected. Soldiers who are found to be, or suspected to be planning to surrender have their families killed. This policy, in light of the rapid defeats suffered at the hands of Japan, has resulted in soldiers having nearly equal hatred for the Hessarian government and the Japanese invader.
-The First Army is destroyed, fighting to the last man in the mountains. The Third has been forced to retreat out of Hessarian lands alongside the Zarisians as the Japanese continue to win a string of victories.
-The Black Birds arrive in full force in Japan, spreading out across the countryside to engage in a campaign of terror.
-Chemical and biological elements are used against the enemy. Gas bombs are rigged to explode during retreats, leaving the enemy allowed in their advance and taking hefty casualties even while seizing abandoned fortifications, and subway tunnels are loaded with explosives, detonated upon enemies taking the cities. Unfortunately the Japanese have more than enough men to make up for these losses, and push on regardless of the traps laid for them.
Japan (ShiJo)
Doctrines: Mandatory Schooling, Meritocracy, Biological Warfare, Religious Tolerance, Immigrant Restrictions, Ninjas, Fortified Harbors, Police State
Culture: Swordmakers, Closed Society, Christianity (religion), Egalitarianism
Tech: First World
Issues: War Exhaustion (high)
-Hessaria divides their fleets, half of them turning to Japan's coastline to bombard cities. This gives the fleet a significant advantage, and the remaining Hessarian fleets are destroyed. A blockade is swiftly established, preventing enemy reinforcements from arriving.
-Suiyekharti and Hessarian fleets have begun bombarding Japan with ballistic missiles and artillery shells, some of which contain chemical and biological agents, terrorizing civilians.
-The culture festival in Orientale is extended and Orientals are invited to participate, further frustrating the locals who refuse to assimilate. Unit 731 worked to round up the most aggressive individuals, to disappear them into black vans, but the malcontents persisted. They have structured themselves into loosely organized armies, rising up in open rebellion.
-Emphasis is placed upon success in capturing spies, with punishments doled out to investigators whose quarries escape. As a result, many arrests are being made upon mere suspicions rather than solid proof.
-The Hessarian forces are told through propaganda leaflets that if they lay down their arms they will be treated fairly, but very few take up that call for surrender. The enemy has refered to Japan's invading force as one consisting "of dragons and worms" hostile to Hessaria's existence. Regardless, the Japanese government continues to advertise Hessarian culture as a good one, with generals commanded to give leniency towards civilians and prisoner soldiers.
-The armies rapidly advance across Hessaria, destroying several armies, including one of Zarisian reinforcements.
-The people are tired of war and the economy is strained. It would be beneficial for a time of peace to begin soon.

These are nuclear missile silos.
The pips below them represent how many nukes they have stored. Only First World nations may presently have silos. You may have one for every five cities in your country. They cannot be moved once built, so place them carefully. They will slowly fill with nukes based upon how large your country is. Nuclear missiles, because of their unrestricted targeting and high yield warheads, are able to wipe cities and units off the map in one go.
These do NOT represent your entire nuclear arsenal. Every First World nation that chooses to make nuclear weapons also has a diverse array of tactical weapons and warheads dropped by bombers. Such weapons are fallible, however; bombers can be shot down by enemy fighters and AA missiles, and they can only carry warheads of comparatively small size because the pilots are expected to escape the blast radius.

Crow is not involved in this war and, in fact, declared a policy of neutrality. He also never said that you could have right of way in his pm. There is no reason to assume that you could peacefully move through his territory.
You can't just send entire armies through other countries and expect the locals to be cool with it, this is why Belgium and Germany went to war in 1914.

You literally declared war on me during the previous turn, joining with the Kathian coalition. Additionally, you are a vassal (or viceroyality, so essentially an autonomous province) of Suiyektu, who also declared war on Elysium.
I'd say that invasion after the second party started the war is justified :v

Kathian assisted me in war, so it's only fair that I helped them to. I sent two fleets, and your response was to invade my country and place an army in all my cities.
"I'd say the invasion after the second party started the war is justified :v"
Do you really think the smallest country in the game is a threat to your country's safety? Even if I had any armies (which I don't thanks to you) the maximum I would be able to have would be two. Now, all I'm going to ask is that you move your armies from my land, and we can discuss a treaty via PM.

I'm more worried about what might happen if Oceania starts pushing against Japan more than it already is.
So, is Zaris part of Oceania or? I never was actually clear on that. And do we have names for the other areas of the world?

Yeah, and you also had an non-aggression agreement/alliance with me and Orientale, whatever the proper wording on that is. And assuming that you do somehow win against Kathian and Suiyektu, with, what is next? 'Liberating' Divus from their mad king? 'Freeing' oppressed peoples in Japan? Or 'cleaning' up a collection countries who war with each other?

I've considered myself part of it because it's not like I'm connected to any other major landmass. I'd say I'm more on the edge of it.

Everything from Carim to Sprawl, including Zaris, I would consider Oceania.
The Land north of Oceania, that's the former territory of Narthuria all the way to The roses, I would probably call Northros.
What was Vilanova down to Fittaland I'd designate Tsarium.
South of Fittaland I'd designate as Vespucia.
The new world I'd call Arktos. And the lands Onvast currently occupied I'd just call the "Great Archipelago".

I think these names are good.
