Did you know? There are those amongst us who would shatter our hopes for peace, order, and security. These radical malcontents don't care about you. They don't care about Elysium! All they care about is fulfilling their own selfish desires. Let's take a tally of these agitators, shall we? There are, of course, the Kathians. Those anarchistic ruffians who roam the wastes, preying on any and all, stealing, murdering. The so-called "Divusian Exclave." Now, don't be fooled by their pseudo-science nonsense or supposed connections to the old nation of Divus. These… laser-fazed boy scouts are nothing more than common criminals with access to some antiquated technology; criminals who have had the audacity to claim this country's most important space age installation, the Tower of Babel, as their own personal clubhouse! And what about the Kruztatlists of Fittaland? The frighteningly irradiated nomads of Vilanoa? And last but not least, the overzealous nationalist subversives that have completely overrun the entire Cuban and Egyptian regions! Lawlessness, terror, murder. They're all around us, I know. I know. But not for long, sweet Elysium. Not for long. Oh no. The Consulate will restore peace, order, and prosperity to this great nation. And those who oppose us will be… removed. Forever.

I think we've reached the point that this has become a Fallout RP now.

In all honesty – it will be bad, but humanity will pull through, most likely.

I'd say that about half of the world's population might die. More or less.

…Jeez, that is depressing when you say it.

But those who survive will be even better than average people, due to natural selection. And then those people will teach Earth not to fuck with them again.

I've been thinking quite a bit lately about something we can all relate to, something that is unquestionably, inescapably… Elysian. I am referring, of course, to our great national pastime – conquest. Or so it had been. That's right, Elysium. Before we were devastated by moon lasers, each state had its OWN professional army. Imagine, a perfect, cloudless day. The sun is warm and welcoming. And on the horizon, they appear, like knights of yore, armed with rifles of steel and oak. Their name? The First Army. Their purpose? To make you, dear Elysium, revel in the joys of blood and empire, if only for another year. Now ask yourself this: What if the First Army could live again? What if they could do combat with armies from Suiyektu, or Zaris? Put your faith in John Henry Eden, great Elysium, and colonialism will live again! Adventure, supremacy, deadly conflict - all will live again! This country WILL live again!

Turn 17

Map

Legend

Syraus (Stalemate)

-The phage only continues to get worse over time, with no cure in sight despite the desperate efforts of the nation's top biologists.

-Japan has invaded, rapidly overtaking the entire country before a response can be formulated. The plague and the famine combined have sapped the willpower and the morale of the entire nation, leading to total collapse.

Orobostan (ProfessorRivers)

-Underground bunkers are hastily stocked with food, weapons, medicine and civilians. Society within the bunkers is structured to place intellectuals at the top of authority, with higher rights, in the hopes that the post apocalypse world will be better suited to survive. Government representatives are assigned to preside over the bunker societies with despotic powers.

Divusian Exclave (Taryn)

-Elysium has launched several waves of rockets towards the moon base, forcing the laser array to change targets. While distracted with the task of shooting down these missiles, a Japanese task force has landed on the dark side of the moon and marched to the base, sneaking in, and then breaking into the command room to kill the operators and seize full control over the laser.

Elysium (Triangle Mare)

-The Babel laser is manned but, with the infrastructure of Divus scavenged into oblivion by its government and, later, its people, there is no way to power it. The military begins a frantic effort to get the power grid back online, but the advance of winter and a lack of supplies has forced them to abandon the country. The nation's stockpile of ICBMs are then launched to distract the lunar laser for as long as possible.

-The newly elected Consul, John Henry Eden, has immediately enacted an emergency powers act to seize total control over the country.

-The armies are pulled back to Elysium to assert its control over the populace and enforce a new order intended to save lives by rationing food and managing the reorganization of the nation's farms for better output during the long winter. What remain of the nation's industries are also seized and moved to rural locations to prevent their destruction. The cities which still stand are evacuated, their assets carefully rationed to keep the nation from being broken.

-Seeds from farms across the empire's diversity of biomes are collected and stored in several seed vaults across the core provinces, so that once the climate returns to something stable an agricultural revival can take place.

Striate (Owen, The Communist Tree)

-The nation is opened to trade once again, only leading to disappointment. The global trade network has ceased to be, and nothing can be brought in from abroad any longer.

-An effort is made to overhaul the entire economy towards renewable energy, but flounders as the environmental crisis only becomes worse and trade comes to be impossible. The money needed for these massive projects must instead be spent on food, and the supplies needed to build batteries and turbines cannot be imported.

-A public works project is made, aimed at educating people on greenhouse construction so that they might be able to maintain some level of subsistence farming during the winter.

-The state officially terminates its currency, encouraging people to barter locally and shut down the larger economy to become isolated and self sufficient. This has transformed specialized provinces, such as those which might be centered around mining or industry, to diversity themselves and provide their own food.

Sprawl (Sergeant Arch Dornan)

-Another nuclear bomb is sent into space, but is immediately shot down by the Divusian laser base.

-Government money is heavily invested in science and research, but nothing comes of it as the leaders of these programs abscond with the funds to stockpile food for their families and friends. The leaders of these science projects soon become something of an aristocracy, controlling vast quantities of food and using their power to establish communities under their control.

Cuba (Major Bummer)

-The fishing company is abandoned, its chief officers going back to Cuba to participate in the revolution. They succeed in reorganizing the rebels into a cohesive force and, with Elysium unable to effectively respond, they have thrown off their shackles and gained real independence.

Zaris (Tyranid Warrior)

-The cities are by and large abandoned, with a new project to construct even more underground shelters requiring the scavenging and storing of whatever can be found of value. Those left on the surface are without food or working industry and infrastructure, leading to the rapid death of most of the nation's people.

-Japan invades, easily destroying the plague infected armies and occupying the nation entirely.

Carim (CrowTheMagician)

-Several rockets are launched towards mars. The collapse of the world economy has meant less availability of materials for the space program, which in turn means that their supplies were low in quality. Mission success relies largely upon luck. Communications with the colonists were lost as they were in transit. Whether this is because their communicator broke or they all died is impossible to say.

-Vaults are constructed and Carim's greatest works of art and other accomplishments are stowed away for discovery by a future generation. Other underground structures are made for stashing food, protecting civilians, and conducting secret projects to advance Carim's countermeasure capabilities.

-The state initiates a program of stricter control over the people and their possessions, to ensure that the maximum number of civilians survive the winter as is possible.

Hessaria (Black Graphic T)

-The mountain bunkers are stocked with supplies to construct and maintain greenhouses and supply conscious farming methods are adopted to conserve water, power, and fertilizer. Previously untapped springs and aquifers are connected to the pipe system, which is then diverted through volcano based geothermal plants to bring electric power and water to the mountain refuges.

-A clothing trend known as Quarian Fashion is devised as a tool through which the government can encourage people to take up the wearing of furs and gas masks, to better help them survive the harsh future expected for Hessaria.

-The internet, in particular the parts with practical or historical information archived, is downloaded and stored away on a special server, designed to last for an exceedingly long time. The documents deemed most important to the future development of Hessaria are printed as well, to be doubly certain that they survive.

Nekogara (ShiJo)

-Project Nekomimi has been completed, finally "perfecting" upon the human form. The resulting product is a super human with enhances senses, strength, intelligence, and survivability. With the ability to hibernate for centuries, endure and heal what would normally be considered lethal injuries, safely metabolize most radioactive particles, and withstand much higher temperature thresholds than a normal human, these new beings are being heralded by their creators as the next stage in human evolution. They are distinguished from their inferior human counterparts by a second set of ears, resembling cat ears, and a long catlike tail.

-Zaris and Syraus are invaded, the armies quickly moving from the coasts to first seize their missile silos, and then capture their cities. Severely affected by plague, these nations are unable to put up any kind of real resistance and crumble.

-An investigation into Elysium's economic connections with Japan has identified the major factors keeping the two economies bound. They submit several proposals to the emperor on how to resolve the nation's economic woes, all of which suggest breaking off ties with Elysium. Japan has now closed its economy to Elysium for the most part, building up what it needs to survive on its own.

-A rocket is launched while the moon is out of view, on the opposite side of earth, and lands on the dark side of the moon, successfully avoiding detection from the lunar laser base. A small team of catgirls embark on a march across the surface of the moon and assault the Divusian base, successfully taking it for themselves.

-Realizing that they are far more powerful than their human masters, the catgirls throw off their shackles and launch a nationwide revolution. They capture the emperor, casting him down a well, and cast out the rest of the leadership by hunting them until they flee the country. Japan is under new ownership, and has been renamed Nekogara to reflect this fact.

Epilogue

-The world is struck by a new plague on top of the old one, called the White Plague due to its concurrence with the long winter, this time seemingly without discrimination to nationality. Every state is struck down by it and, combined with the effects of famine induced malnutrition, it proves even deadlier than the last. Billions have perished.

-After a brief interlude of no laser strikes thanks to Elysian missiles distracting the Divusians followed by a Japanese takeover of the moon base, the bombardment continues unabated, without change in its targets. Japan soon loses contact with the lunar laser and it stops firing altogether.

-With the winter only becoming worse with the destruction of more Elysian cities, many peoples living further north are forced to flee southwards, taking up whatever arms they can devise or dig up, looting and pillaging as they move. Entire societies are uprooted in this fashion, first in Vilanoa and Txabesco, and then in other areas south of them. As Vilanoan and Txabescan hordes march they force others in their path to flee as well, resulting in a cascade effect wherein millions of people are displaced.

-The global economy virtually ceases to exist amidst the rising death tolls. The most critical industry hit is petroleum, which drives the rest of the world economy as its primary fuel. A lack of workers and loss of currency value leads to oil production peaking and then plummeting; thus, trade shipping becomes impossible. Materials that were once easily obtained are now impossible to find. Technology dependent industries collapse entirely.

-Isolated colonies, far overseas from their overlords and unable to recieve support or supplies, declare independence or are quickly conquered by migrating hordes. Japanese hegemony is lifted from Onvast, Zaris, Syraus, and Antarctica as a result. In the resulting power vacuum, Antarctica descends into civil war, with civilian rebel units fighting to cast off Japanese rule and destroy their settlements. Hessaria, with the support of the Hessarians on the mainland, sends troops across the straits to assist the rebels, esentually establishing authority over the entire continent. To facilitate the maintenance of a fair democracy over the many cultures of the continent, the United Federation is established.

-In Fittaland, a combination of Divusian, Yeezy, Korean, and Kathian refugees form a horde and advance into Northon. The Elysian war machine grinds to a halt due to a lack of fuel and food, and they fail even with their modern equipment to stop the millions of nomads from taking the isthmus and moving as far south as the Rovhal canal. The Kathian nation has been displaced to this region, with Vilanoa being reestablished as a kingdom upon the vacated remains of their old lands.

-The Hundred Strain Phage and the following White Plague finally die out after several decades, coinciding with the end of winter. Together with the climate changes and the famine, they have left roughly 90% of the world population dead. With such a significant loss of life, recovery is absolutely impossible. The old world, known now in legends as humanity's golden age, has been looted thoroughly over several generations. The great empires of old have fallen, leaving in their wake numerous of petty kingdoms. There is nothing left of it beyond crumbling edifices and the foundations of old infrastructure. The world has, more or less permanently, regressed into a primitive state.

The game is over now, for those of you who didn't get the memo. Stop sending me pms.

A final gif, for Taryn's moonmen:

And then, here's all the natrp-related images that I didn't put in the thread:

Me: Can't deliver a cure beyond my borders
Japan: Goes to fucking space

I guess that helps put in perspective how absolutely impossible to defeat Japan and Elsyium were.

I imagine what happened to my people afterwards were they sort of regressed back to the old days when it was just the 8 villages (now decaying metropolises) looking after themselves. Mechanarianism sort of devolved into this strange cult religion were even basic technology is worshipped like a gift from God.
And over time due to Japan's invasion, the people started ghost stories and myths about strange humanoids with cat ears prowling the countryside.
You did it, you basically recreated Fallout in my nation except instead of Deathclaws there's catgirls. Good job.
Seriously though that was a pretty good time.

All of the atrocities commited by Unit 731 amount to two plagues and genetically enhanced catgirls that will become the dominant species on Earth

This was really fun, thank you very much, Syndic !
