A quick Google search says that it probably started as a Southern tradition as worked it's way into a black stereotype. It might have been a way to dehumanize blacks after slavery, because they were accused of stealing what was readily available on plantations: chicken and watermelon.
 
 
Sociology might say (something I do know about) that stereotypes like that persist well after their original meaning is lost, because it helps for people to define a group of people without getting to know them. It doesn't hurt that there's an element of humor to it, as well. Stereotypes also help to reinforce the negative perceived identities of a group of people. In this case, it reinforces the supposed primal and immoral nature of blacks.

Just finished playing Gears 3 Beast mode. Let me tell you, there is nothing like unlocking and using the Berserker. You're pretty much the honey badger except you're a giant, fast-moving and pissed off armored female who is on her period and don't give a shit what the F*CK is in her way.

When do you think Luna episode is gonna be? I hope they make the 'Winter Moon Celebration' for the winter solstice. And everypony sleeps all day so they can stay up all night and enjoy the night and Luna. But that would mean the episode would probably be in December sometime; WHY MUST I WAIT FOR MY WAIFU!?!?!?!

True, but in the universe, Celestia had a reason to visit Ponyville. Mostly to visit Twilight and her friends.

Did one of the creators say there was going to be a Luna episode? That would render my logic moot.

Also i heard that Derpy was gonna be in season 2 as a character and not a background pony…..well it has been only 2 episodes but does anybody know if this is true or just speculations?
Also on the matter..WHERE IS LUNA?…I really expected her to appear in these 2 episodes…would of made sense…

I expect Luna to appear at least two episodes in season 2.

I hate how MLP is the only KYM article that has people who actually thumbs up images 'n' shit; it feels so deserted on other articles.

Trust me when I say there's a 99% chance the guy who cough "confirmed" that was just making it up. Let's face facts here people, the dev team simply doesn't care about Luna half as much as certain members of the community, the only episode she appeared in she literally had one line and less then a minute of screen time.

Plus, Equestria managed to thrive for a thousand years without her and the first thing she did when she came back was try to take over the world, I very much doubt the characters should even trust her let alone throw her a party.

As it stands Luna has as much canon in the series as Derpy, and every other aspect of her personality was made up by the community. The only reason I'd want to see her again is so we can get some real official characterization… done by professionals who are GOOD at balancing a character.

They should have Twilight meet some other ponies, so she just doesn't hang out with the mane six; it would also be a good excuse to characterize and give voices to background ponies, like Derpy or Lyra (or Bon Bon).

Obviously something went wrong while it was importing the file. Maybe you should try again? Or perhaps use a different version of the image?

Also, does anypony have any suggestions for what I could change my avatar to? I'm getting sick of looking at this stupid "sad troll" thing, which is the only "fitting" image I could find to fit my name. I need something pony now.
