Was a little late to this one cuz of AX, but anyways, here we go:

  • Hmm, no intro. Doesn't matter though, the buildup to Rohan's place was good enough of an intro.
  • Rohan's VA actually isn't too shabby, though, like everyone else, I'm so used to his previous VA. Still, it's only one episode, so give it time.
  • Heaven's Door has some pretty neat animation.
  • The color shifts in this episode were just gureato.
  • Updated ending, now with Akira, Rohan, Shizuka and Joseph.

Good episode. Hopefully I'm on time with the next one.

Oh man, I'm enjoying one of my IRL friends now being into Jojo after knowing nothing about it previously, I've just repeatedly hit them with incredibly vague hints to stuff that they aren't gonna realise until it's too late
for example

I just said to him, in regards to characters that die in this part, Pepsi
of course this is innocuous enough until you get to this scene

and if he remembers that after the months it's gonna take to get to this, and if it makes it in of course, he's gonna be very worried when that comes up

But like I said, that's just one example, I've actually lost track of all the stuff like that I've brought up to him.

My biggest gripe is that eyes of heaven had the perfect setup to make something of that scene and they didn't even mention it
it was a time travel plot for fucks sake.

Real fucking talk, Havens door is legit in the same ranking as The World in terms of power.

Like holy shit was anyone else watching and just blown away at how OP that fucking thing was?

I'd argue if Rohan cared to he could beat most main antagonist's in a direct 1v1 fight, all he has to do is flash heaven's door at them before they can stop time or whatever else, and they're done, he just writes "I am dead" and they're gone.

How to be the most OP stand user of all time
1.Get Heavens door
2. Get a white shirt and pants
3.Draw manga or staple manga pages onto the shirt and pants
4.RIP

One look at you and you're immortalized and turned into a slave

I came late to my usual thing because of errands, but anyways, on to the usual stuff:

  • Man, this episode reminds me of just how OP Heaven's Door can be. I wouldn't know if it's truly as OP as everyone makes it out to be, but just thinking about the possibilities does get one thinking.
  • New OP is gureato. Lots of neat foreshadowing with new characters. Compared to the previous OP, this one sets a plot in motion, and tells you that things are gonna get serious now.
  • Josuke's origin story, animated, was cool. The music definitely helps set a tone and make what was a sad scene in the manga even sadder. Too bad this never goes any further…
  • Animation for Crazy Diamond is always great, and today was no exception. Heaven's Door also looked great.
  • Rat episode next week, and it appears to be a one-off; I'm fine with that.

Another solid episode. Can't wait as the plot further thickens.

I had a crazy ass dream last night where I was watching a re imagined version of part 2 where everyone of the main characters had a stand.

Jojo Used his hermit purple (but it didn't suck) caesar had like a yellow stand that had the power to shoot bubbles and I don't remember what the Piller men had.

It was pretty interesting I kind of want to seen a re imagined part 1 and 2 now with stands. I even got pissed because someone woke me up in the middle of it so I didn't get to see how it all ended

JoJo Friday boiz:

  • One-off episode today (which is good because honestly I wouldn't want to see this chapter go for more than one episode).
  • Second episode we've seen use the new OP, and tbh, after hearing the full OP (special thanks to whichever user linked it down in the JoJo comments), I do dig it, despite how generic it might seem.
  • Lots of long-distance shots today; as I've stated before, the long-distance shots of characters aren't the best, but for a one-off, I'm alright with it.
  • On the other hand, close-up character shots are gureato, and I thought this episode in particular was spot-on, especially with Josuke's face.
  • For once, I'm actually glad the censor was up, cuz the melted destruction caused by the rats looks bloody horrifying.
  • Great to see Star Platinum: The World get used, and the animation for it was neat. The animation for the time stop always looks cool.
  • Next episode looks to be a one-off with Rohan, which means we'll meet some fancy new characters, including ghost girl and perhaps the hand fetishist himself, so that's something to look forward to.

Good episode today; animation had its rough spots, but overall still solid. Can't wait for next Friday.

It is Friday my dudes:

  • No opening today: instead we get some interesting banter between Koichi and Rohan as they ultimately enter the ghost alley.
  • Even though this episode is a one-off, it is VERY significant to the plot of Part 4. If you couldn't already tell from the new OP, things are about to get very serious, and the stuff covered this episode lays down the basic plot of Part 4 from here on out.
  • Reimi's got such a cute design, and her VA makes her sound adorable.
  • DP really took their time in providing Reimi's exposition, from the music to the animation. They've done a great job in showing you just how serious this is.
  • Ghost Hands: creepy things those are (they're animated well though).
  • No ED either: instead the episode continues…
  • …with the introduction of the mysterious killer. We've seen hints of this person before, but now we finally meet him.
  • The Queen-like music used for this Kira's introduction is just gureato. We only got a teaser of Kira, but wow, does he make an impact.
  • Sadly, Kira's VA is not the one from ASB and EoH, for those wondering. Different guy this time, though he did fine, and will probably continue to do fine.

Gureato episode today. Now we can start digging into the nitty-gritty of Part 4. Definitely looking forward to the next one.

I just remembered, have I missed something, or have those bite marks that were on Joshu, Yasuho and of course Josuke at the start of Jojolion still gone unexplained?
If so that seems to be the recurring theme of part 8 right now, shit left unexplained.

Ooh boy, Friday time:

  • Wow, today was a pretty funny episode. There were a lot of humorous moments today.
  • Ooh boy, Fatty Shigechi. The animation for his stand Harvest is neat, and the anime certainly captures his… personality traits well. Also he has his old ASB and EoH VA, which is pretty neat.
  • Best animated scene was Okuyasu chasing Harvest in the beginning. For real, that was just gureato. Really, the animation for this episode was absolutely solid.
  • Lots of funny close-up shots of Josuke, Okuyasu and Shigechi. Really adds to the comedy of their gambling antics.
  • Props to Oku and Josuke's VAs: they both gave extremely hammy and extremely funny performances today.

Really funny, solid episode today. Looking forward to its conclusion.

Small complaint about the subbing: I really hate that they keep making Josuke say "kewl" for whatever reason. I imagine that it's to give it an "it's the 90's! radical!!" feel to things, but it just makes no sense when these characters are very clearly Japanese. The English jargon they use is nothing like the lingo Western youth would be saying at this time. Just because it's the 90's doesn't mean you can swap out one culture with a completely different one. Not sure why Crunchroll is going the 4Kids route and trying to convince me that this Japanese show that is all about 90's Japanese youth culture somehow takes place in America. Are the rice balls donuts too? I'm amazed they didn't say Kira's family were cowboys and that he lives on a ranch. It's just one word, but "kewl" has Joey JoJo-levels of "we don't believe Westerners could ever understand a culture that isn't their own so we'll just pathetically try to force it in places it doesn't belong". It bothers me that a company would still try to do something like that years after people have hated other subbing companies for doing the same thing. Come on people, it's 2016 for Christ's sake!

I love everything about the scene. The animation, the VA's performance and the music. It's downright amazing and creepy at the same time.

I can't tell if this whole post is mocking the complainers or straight complaining.

How many episodes are there going to be in this season? Or are they going to have this chapter in two parts like chapter 3 did?

All of part 4 is gonna be one continuous bunch of 39 episodes, one every friday until it's done.

Friday time boiz:

  • Continuing where we left off last week, Josuke, Okuyasu, and Shigechi attempt to cash in a lottery ticket. Lots of drama occurs as the three try to convince the bank teller that the ticket they found is indeed theirs.
  • I'll give Shigechi credit and say that Harvest is actually a neat stand. And Shigechi can be pretty damn clever at times too.
  • Glad that Okuyasu got to shine in this episode, being able to use The Hand more. We've come a long way from Josuke and Okuyasu fighting each other. Now they're best of friends.
  • Animation was on point this week. Crazy Diamond's appearances always look so gureato.
  • The ED's changed slightly. You can see Reimi sitting on top of the store, Shigechi a bit after the Koichi part, and Kira himself right at the end with the diamond reflection that usually has Josuke.
  • Surprisingly, next week's episode is NOT the episode a lot of us were expecting. Instead it'll be the Cinderella arc. This could be a pretty good idea, narrative-wise. It's just kinda a bummer to have to wait a bit longer for good ole' Duwang, but oh well, I like Yukako.

Solid episode this week. Bummed that we're not getting the episode we all want next week, but still looking forward to the next one.

JoJo Friday my friends:

  • One-off episode today, this time focusing solely on Yukako as she tries once again to have her Koichi-kun fall for her
  • Cameo appearance from our own David Bowie today, eyeing Aya's Cinderella shop as he walks by; foreshadowing perhaps?
  • Aya's VA certainly captured that "tired" or "low-blood pressure" aspect of her character
  • Aya's stand Cinderella had some pretty neat animation
  • This is unrelated to anything else, but is it just me or has Yukako never once said the name of her stand? I seem to recall only Rohan saying her stand's name when he was reading Koichi's memories some episodes ago.
  • It's neat to see Yukako get more focus in this episode. She always struck me as an interesting, likeable (despite her yandere tendencies) character, and it's nice to see her character develop a little more.
  • Yukako once again shows her crazy yandere side throughout this episode, especially on Aya
  • Lots of still shots this episode; they must be saving actual animation for later, more important episodes, which I'm fine with
  • Koichi steals Yukako's heart and they finally become a couple! That's just adorable
  • No formal opening or ending segment today
  • BOYS, THE NEXT EPISODE, FOR SURE, IS THE DUWANG, AND THAT'S GUREATO!! DUWANG HYPE! DAVID BOWIE HYPE!

Overall, fairly solid one-off today. Nice to see Yukako get more focus here. Definitely looking forward to next week. I'm so excited!

I was laughing so hard when Josuke almost fell of the window. That was so funny.
Also Kira hype next episode and they really made Aya's bust size massive in comparison to the manga which I am wondering about why they changed that.
Also this line is gold used out of context

What a beautiful Duwang, it feels like a Friday:

  • I made a mistake last time in saying that "Yoshikage Kira Wants a Quiet Life" would be a one-off. It's actually a two-parter.
  • DP's done a pretty good job in building up the creep factor for Kira; whether it be his Queen-like leitmotifs, his great voice-acting, or the just the way DP has successfully animated Kira's best scenes, I can say that Kira is just creepy here as he is in the manga.
  • I'll be honest, but it felt like there were a few QUALITY moments in this episode: Shigechi's proportions looked off at times, the distant long shots of characters (which I've talked about before), and a bit of the last scene (though perhaps that's just nitpicking) make up the QUALITY moments in the episode.
  • To be honest, I was pretty hyped to see Kira summon Killer Queen, and when he did… how do I say this… I got a Boner … ok, I kid, but it was pretty gureato. And the animation for Kira summoning Killer Queen was top-notch too (though Killer Queen does look a tad bit off).
  • About Killer Queen's design: seems that DP's emphasized its creep factor or something. It looks less "kitty" and more "huh that looks dangerous." Also its got red sclera and a slightly open mouth.
  • The moment they show us Killer Queen, the episode ends. Damn, DP really does like teasing us, do they?
  • The next episode will continue with more David Bowie/Killer Queen action next week, and we'll get to see what KQ is all about. I'm so excited!
  • Oh, and I almost forgot, Killer Queen is called "Deadly Queen" in the subtitles, for those wondering. Not the worst name change (and this name has been a thing since All-Star Battle).

This episode was the EFFING STRONG today, and I can't wait for the next one. Animation mishaps aside, today was great. I can't wait for more David Bowie.

Not related to currently airing anime, just question in general: why do people think that Okuyasu is dumb in using The Hand? The fact that he figured out how to move others and later himself alone puts him above stupid IMO. He's no genius, especially in general, but I think he's quite proficient at using his stand. Granted I'm a bit rusty with my memory of manga and I haven't watched anime yet. so there can be details I'm missing. There's his defeat against Josuke, but that was also on behalf of Josuke, not just because Okuyasu is an idiot.

His fight against RHCP likely is what makes him believe that he's dumb. But personally I always thought he had a good heart so he never tried to kill anyone with it's power.

It's more about Okuyasu himself getting tricked, not about him using his stand badly. Now that I think about it, part 3 Jotaro seems like the kind of guy who could fall for the same trick.
Edit: Oh, wait. Scratch the second part, I remembered Steely Dan fight.

Simply put Za Hando is one of most of the fucking strongs stands that exists in jojo and has way more potential for combat than stands like The world and Star Platinum

But Okuyasu is wood and uses his stand in the most simplistic way with some neat tricks once in a while

Everyone says that, but how would he be able to use it that would make him OP? Cream is the fucking strong, but it's invincible and invisible during its attack. And Vanilla Ice is a vampire, so exposing his head first is not a problem for him. Meanwhile, The Hand has slow by stand standards speed for its right hand attack.

The Hand is weaker than Cream on its own, and Okuyasu isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, but because of the way The Hand works, I'd believe it has more versatility than Cream, purely because we never saw Ice uses Cream's mouth void for anything but hiding, eating and turning into a ball of destruction. Okuyasu used The Hand to teleport himself, his opponent or objects in the area instantly, and as a result, has more range than Cream, who's power is limited by the size of its mouth and body length. It's also interesting to note that save for development, which The Hand has a higher stat in, Cream and it have exactly the same stats.

Seeing as we're talking about Okuyasu vs Vanilla Ice, I found this interesting video comparing Okuyasu's The Hand with Vanilla Ice's Cream.

JoJo Friday everyone:

  • The episode pretty opens up where we left off, with the same scene as before, this time "fixed". Good to see Killer Queen improved and "fixed" (DP must have Crazy Diamond's powers or something).
  • The voice-acting was especially gureato today, both from Kira and Shigechi's VAs.
  • Kira's VA captures the contemplative and cold aspect of the character really well. I think he also captures the quiet confidence in Kira's character as well. Also, when he's explaining Killer Queen's bomb powers, his voice-acting is just top-notch.
  • Speaking of KQ's abilities, DP really went out of their way to showcase how devastating KQ's powers are. The audio and the animation of an explosion is a plus.
  • Shigechi's VA was amazing in this episode, with his hasty tone as Shigechi attempts to find Josuke. Actually, Shigechi's whole scene was done really well, and actually made me appreciate Shigechi's character more (to be perfectly honest, I never hated Shigechi, but I never really liked him either). The music, the voice-acting, and the animation combined together to make a more impactful scene.
  • The episode ends with the beginning of the Sheer Heart Attack arc (or Heart Attack in the subs). We see a bit of Sheer Heart Attack in action, and it looks incredibly devastating (I'd say it's guaranteed to blow your mind!). Next week's episode will be Part 1 of Sheer Heart Attack, so look forward to that.

Overall, today's episode was gureato! Really looking forward to the next one.

Heyo, it's Friday boi:

  • Today's episode was definitely a Koichi episode, though even Jotaro got some time to shine.
  • Seeing Star Platinum go ORA ORA ORA while Stardust Crusaders plays in the background is just absolutely gureato!!
  • Animation was top-notch today, and all the close-up shots of characters looked really solid. One that comes to mind is the close-up of Koichi as he gains his confidence and goes Super Saiyan.
  • Sheer Heart Attack is one scary stand, and a lot of the tension throughout this episode is Koichi and Jotaro finding a way to avoid it. It's almost Terminator-like.
  • You know, it's still somewhat surprising knowing that Diavolo's VA in ASB and EoH is now Kira in the anime, and it's a bit hard to tell until you hear Sheer Heart Attack yell its shtick, because whenever SHA yells, I get reminded of Diavolo.
  • Echoes Act 3: it's about time. And it looks great. Also the interactions between Koichi and Act 3 were pretty funny too.
  • As I said, today was a Koichi episode. Not only did we see him unlock another act for his stand, but we also got to see his craftiness, his ability to think on the spot, and even his shedding of cowardice for confidence. Goes to show how far Koichi's gone.

Gureato episode today! Looking forward to next week.

Wew lad, this was quite the tense JoJo Friday:

  • Without trying to get ahead of myself, this episode was just really freakin' GUREATO DAZE! Like wow, where the heck do I even begin. So much happens in this episode, and there's so many things I can praise.
  • The episode starts with Kira's little back-alley encounter with a couple of delinquents who try and humiliate him. But he manages to get the better of them. What makes this opening scene great is it really shows how motivated Kira is to maintain his lifestyle. And he must do that by first retrieving Sheer Heart Attack and finishing off Koichi and Jotaro.
  • The fight between Koichi and Kira: absolutely wonderful. Wonderful voice-acting from both characters, with Koichi sounding like a total badass and Kira sounding like an arrogant sociopath losing his cool. Also the animation when Killer Queen blocked Echoes Act 3's punches was great. Even the music helped set the tone for the scene.
  • Speaking of music, the music really helps set the tone for all these various scenes. When I read the manga and saw Kira get irritated at Koichi's sock placement, I kinda laughed at it. But watching this scene get animated, and with the music, it makes the scene feel both tense and creepy.
  • Kira's VA has done a wonderful job in previous episodes, but he absolutely KILLED it this episode. He really sold the different aspects of Kira, from his calm confidence, to his eccentricities, to him losing it, so on and so forth.
  • The whole scene (or rather the ending credits sequence) in Aya's Cinderella shop was actually really tense. From the cinematography to the music to the animation, it seemed like something out of a psychological horror film. The buildup to Aya's death and to Kira's escape was done really well.
  • During the ending credits sequence, among the large crowd of people, you can actually see some future characters. I wonder if we'll see them in a new OP?

Absolutely fantastic episode, no doubt about it. Go check it out. I'm so looking forward to the next one.

To add like the smallest negative note to this episode
(As in so minor I'd take away 0.1 out of 100 for this episode)

I've brought this up before, but in the manga when Koichi reveals he discovered Kira's name, and really rubs it in that a brat like him found it out etc, Kira seems to actually have tears welling up in his eyes, it really shows just how much Koichi hurt his ego, and makes Koichi seem a lot more badass for nearly making the main villain cry like a bitch.
This, Koichi not having his smug smile at seeing what he's done to Kira

and Echoes missing some of his swearing that I know is in there
were like my only problems with this adaptation
so yeah, it's still like 99.97 out of 100.

JoJo Friday everyone:

  • I didn't think we'd be introduced to the Kawajiri family so quickly. If I recall correctly, that doesn't happen until a little later. Personally, I think it would've been better if they saved Kosaku's reveal until episodes later, but they might be doing this to tell a more focused narrative. Either way, I'm interested to see what progresses.
  • Atom Heart Father is quite the interesting stand. Still, I could've sworn the fight was longer in the manga. If that's the case, then I think DP's just trying to get through it as fast as possible to get to more Kira, and imo, that's not a bad thing.
  • Nice to see DIO get referenced again, and this time with a somewhat full appearance! Cool to see him in Stardust Crusaders-style too.
  • Shinobu's VA sounds awfully familiar for whatever reason. Same with Yoshihiro's.
  • The build-up in the beginning of the episode about Kira's history was done pretty well. Really highlights how motivated Kira was in preserving an otherwise normal, boring life on the surface, but a dastardly one behind closed doors.

Didn't say a whole lot for this episode since not a whole lot happens. But it does a nice job of setting up the later plot of Part 4, so I think this episode was good. Interested to see the next one.

The lack of gureato is menancing!

JoJo Janken Friday my dudes:

  • Well, who knew that Rock, Paper, Scissors (or Janken) would make for such a dramatic episode? Because the portrayal of such a simple game made for some good, absurd comedy in my opinion.
  • Not too much in plot-progression, but we do see Kira's father starting to go around and create stand users. We also get to see Rohan do more, taking pictures of guys at the train station. This is pretty much when Rohan gets a lot more focus, as the following arcs are actually very Rohan-centric.
  • There were a couple of QUALITY shots (there was one shot of Yukako that looked kinda funky), but hey, better for a one-off episode like this than a more important, plot-heavy episode.
  • Speaking of Yukako, glad she made a cameo here. I kinda wish she made more appearances though.
  • Rohan's VA did a really great job this episode. I think this was the first episode were I really felt Rohan's new VA picked up. I didn't have a problem with him in previous episodes, but until today, I kinda felt he was under-delivering a bit.
  • The janken scenes with all the different color changes, and all the dramatic flying between Rohan and Ken, were really hilarious and gureato.
  • We're getting an alien next episode. What does that mean? Find out next week.

Pretty fun episode overall. Not too plot-heavy, but then again, I always appreciated that about Part 4, and how much more "slice-of-life" it was than other parts. Anyways, looking forward to the next episode.

Makes sense to use the most generally Asian characters. Part IV has comparatively few non-Japanese compared to other parts of the series, which would be difficult to cast convincingly. I would honestly be fine with them leaving Joseph out completely.

It''ll be pretty cool, provided they do it with conviction and not be afraid of the cheese (which they will, because yay Japan).

JaJa Froday:

  • New OP today. And it looks pretty gureato. Not as tense as the previous OP, but pretty jazzy and reminiscent of Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town. Also got lots of foreshadowing too, with a good focus on Kira.
  • We got a brief scene of Kira trying to mimic Kosaku's handwriting while also holding back his urges. Also, Shinobu's really upping her game up in seducing her "husband."
  • The bizarre interactions and overall mood of today's episode was comedic: Josuke and Okuyasu's interactions with this alien, Mikitaka, are some of the best comedy I've seen from the show. I just dig how comically serious Mikitaka is in relation to the more outgoing Josuke and Okuyasu.
  • Hmm, some QUALITY faces here and there, but I'm hardly bothered by them. Besides, the comedy more than makes up for some off-model faces.
  • The episode ends as soon as the dice game between Josuke and Rohan begins. I'm looking forward to seeing this tense dice game over Josuke's own naive gambling antics.
  • Next episode is gonna lead into the Highway Star (or Highway Go Go in the subs) chapter. We're getting Part 1 next week, but since we're still on the dice game, I don't think we'll get to the crux of the Highway Star fight until maybe next week or 2 weeks from now (assuming it's more than 2 parts).

Hilarious episode today: not very eventful or too plot-heavy, but still packed with some pretty funny moments. Looking forward to the next one.
