30 Dollar Particle Accelerator refers to a series of memes in which a certain sound effect is being played at an increasingly higher speed, eventually turning into a loud monotonous hum. Created with TheRealGDColon's Don't You Lecture Me With Your 30 Dollar Haircut sequencer, the format achieved virality on YouTube in August 2023.

Origin

On January 26th, 2022, programmer[1] @TheRealGDColon launched the Don't You Lecture Me With Your Dollar Website,[2] a sequencer for the meme that allowed for creatively arranging a choice of sound effects represented by images they are associated with.

On June 26th, 2023, YouTuber[3] JoeBro posted a video in which they combined the loop and speed-up actions to play Sans sound effect at an increasingly faster higher speed 1,000 times, with the sequencer eventually producing a loud monotonous hum. The video, titled "sans particle accelerator," gained over 30,000 views on YouTube in one month (shown below).

Spread

On July 6th, 2023, YouTuber[4] chroma-xo posted a similar video, using the Annoying Dog sound effect in their upload. The video (shown below, left) received over 43,400 views in one month. On July 17th, YouTuber[5] The remade the Sans Particle Accelerator video, with the upload gaining over 87,000 views in three weeks (shown below, right).

On July 22nd, 2023, YouTuber[6] The Awesome Tomator posted a Neco-Arc version titled "The Neco Arc Particle Accelerator." The video (shown below) received over 830,000 views in two weeks,

In the following weeks, more versions of the meme went viral on YouTube.
