A Man Married His Rice Cooker Hoax refers to news about a man named Khoirul Anam who was married to his rice cooker, then got divorced four days later. Anam later confessed that his fake marriage was only a publicity stunt for entertainment purposes after many media outlets reported on the story.
Origin
On September 20th, 2021, Facebook[1] user Khoirul Anam uploaded photos of himself marrying a rice cooker. The post, which included several photos including him kissing the rice cooker and faking a marriage ceremony with a witness present, received more than 8,400 reactions and 10,000 shares in one month (shown below).
On September 24th, 2021, the same Facebook[2] user uploaded screenshot of a headline that said "4 Hari Menikah Dengan Magic Jar, Khoirul Anam Memutuskan Bercerai" (English translation: 4 days after his marriage to rice cooker, Khoirul Anam decided to divorce). The post received more than 4,600 reactions and 852 shares in one month (shown below).

On October 4th, 2021, the Facebook[8] user Khoirul Anam uploaded screenshots of different media outlets that published articles about his marriage with the rice cooker, captioning the post "setidaknya bisa menghibur" (English translation: at least it can entertain people). The post received more than 3,300 reactions and 166 shares (shown below).
