About
AI Baby Filter refers to a series of images created via the artificial intelligence art system Remini (AI Photo Enhancer) that imagines what a person's future babies would look like. The trend began growing in July 2023 on TikTok, especially with Brazilians, who know the trend as Inteligência Artificial Filhos No Futuro. The AI-generated images quickly spread to Instagram, Twitter and Facebook with a variety of video compilations and photo albums spread online.
Origin
Around June 2023, the app Remini,[1] which was already known for photo its photo-enhancing features, released an update option allowing users to create AI-generated maternity photoshoots, predicting what their future babies will look like. TikToker[2] @amandabaracho uploaded a video tutorial on June 29th explaining how to use the app (shown below), garnering 1.5 million plays and 32,000 likes in three weeks.

Spread
In July 2023, the trend then migrated to Instagram, as people posted a carousel collections of AI-generated images of what their kids would look like. For instance, the Brazilian singer Luan Santana uploaded a carousel Instagram[3] post on July 12th showing several AI-generated versions of his son (shown below), which garnered 379,000 likes and 9,800 comments in one day.
On July 4th, 2023, Twitter[4] user @valtxr posted an ironic video comment on the AI baby filter trend, stating that posting a carousel collection on Instagram is a little cringe. The post (shown below) garnered 28,800 views and 420 likes in a week.
