About

And I'm Kanye West refers to a memorable quote said by Kevin Hart in the animated song Earth by Lil Dicky. The quote gained attention on YouTube and Instagram in 2019.

Origin

On April 18th, 2019, Lil Dicky premiered the music video "Earth" on YouTube[1]. That features guest vocals Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart, Miley Cyrus, Lil Jon, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Meghan Trainor, John Legend, Backstreet Boys, Psy and more. At the 2:51 mark, an animated Kanye West appears onscreen making a peace symbol saying "And I'm Kanye West". The video hit over 331.5 million views in 2 years (shown below).

Spread

Following the release of the video, numerous users on Instagram began posting video remixes of the moment in the video when an animated Kanye West appears onscreen and says "And I'm Kanye West." For example, on April 27th, 2019, Instagram user @andrew_lastname replaced the audio of West's line with West's infamous statement, "George Bush doesn't care about black people." The post received more than 15,000 likes and 140,000 views in less than one week (shown below).

Over the course of several days after the songs release, others shared variations of the phrase. On April 30th, Instagram user @joshua.likes.salsa posted a version that received more 40,000 likes and 300,000 views in two days (shown below).
