About
Animated Dads on Computers refers to images of father characters from animated movies using computers, most notably Coraline's Dad from the 2009 film Coraline and Mr. Incredible from the 2004 film Incredibles. The images have been used to convey the exhaustion from computer activity or from trying to keep up with social media trends, particularly for people in their 30s or older.
Origin
The scene of tired Bob Parr / Mr. Incredible typing on computer from the 2004 film Incredibles first saw use in memes. In 2014, Tumblr[1] account Facingchildhood posted a GIF of the scene (shown below, left; original post no longer available).
Prior to December 21st, 2017, an unknown user created a meme based on a frame from the GIF, captioning it "You ever get so bored at work that you actually start doing your job" (shown below, right). The meme saw viral circulation online in the late 2010s, including reposts on Imgur,[2] 9GAG[3] and Reddit.[4]

The image did not see further use until March 27th, 2020, when Twitter[6] user @janaymasay posted the image of tired Chalie Jones typing on a computer, captioning it "been looking like this guy lately" (shown below, center). The tweet gained over 111,300 likes and 35,800 retweets in three months.
The image spawned a meme format known as Coraline's Dad, with a two-panel version of the meme gaining popularity as Are You Winning, Dad?, a spin on Are Ya Winning, Son? format (example shown below, right).
On June 4th, 2020, Instagram[7] user robloxmemepage posted a GIF caption meme based on the GIF of tired Mr. Incredible typing (shown below, left), with the meme being widely circulated in the following weeks.[8][9]
