About

Charlie Jones On The Computer is an image macro taken from the 2009 stop-motion animated movie Coraline. The image, which began circulating Tumblr in 2018, features Coraline's father Charlie Jones sitting at a computer and looking tired. It has acquired captions on Twitter, Reddit and Tumblr and has been used as a reaction image.

Origin

On February 6th, 2009, Coraline was released in U.S. theaters. One scene features Coraline visiting a room where her father is staring at a computer. The scene was posted to YouTube on October 10th and received over 807,700 views in 11 years (shown below).



On October 13th, 2018, Tumblr[1] user Disgruntledlungfish posted the image of Jones with the caption, "Today I feel like the dad from coraline" which accumulated over 90,700 notes in two years (shown below).

On March 27th, 2020, Twitter user @janaymasay[2] posted the image of Chalie Jones at a computer and added the caption, "been looking like this guy lately" (shown below, left). The tweet gained over 111,300 likes and 35,800 retweets in three months. On June 24th, Redditor ProxyAttackOnline posted the image of Jones with added headphones and the caption, "the IT guy deleting Google Chrome and blocking coolmathgames from all school computers" to r/dankmemes[3] (shown below, right). The post garnered over 66,300 points (96% upvoted) in a day.
