About

Anti-Spiral YouTube Comments refers to a spam comment trend on YouTube and TikTok referencing the Gurren Lagann character Anti-Spiral. The trend allegedly started in the comment sections of YouTube community posts about Power Scaling characters in anime and manga, such as in Dragon Ball or Jujutsu Kaisen. In discussions like But Can He Beat Goku? and Characters Who Could Beat Sukuna, many would offer Anti-Spiral as a worthy adversary. People began spamming "Anti-Spiral" beneath unrelated posts and videos going in late 2024, spreading the meme outside of anime and manga fandoms.

Origin

Notably starting in 2022, powerscaling edits centered on Gurren Lagann character Anti-Spiral began appearing on YouTube. For instance, on June 19th, 2022, YouTuber[1] Antispiral2.0 shared a Short that powerscaled Anti-Spiral against Cosmic Garou from One-Punch Man, gaining over 100,200 views in two years (shown below).

YouTuber[2][3] Antispiral2.0 would later make edits powerscaling Anti-Spiral to Saitama from One-Punch Man and Goku from Dragon Ball, among others. Other YouTubers[4] also shared Saitama vs. Anti-Spiral edits in 2024.

Anti-Spiral powerscaling edits also surfaced on TikTok[5][6] in 2022 and 2023.

The perception that Anti-Spiral was all-powerful, as portrayed in the aforementioned edits, largely inspired the "Anti-Spiral" comment trend that started on YouTube in late 2024. Currently, the earliest known example spawned from a community post shared by YouTuber[7] BDClashers on December 8th (shown below).
