Backshots or a Good Career or I Will Pass On the Backshots is a viral video and audio clip in which a woman asks, "Backshots or a good career?" and a man answers that he will "pass on the backshots" to "focus on himself and strive for a well-organized schedule that balances work and personal life." The audio was popularized on TikTok as early as April 2024 and became the subject of lip dubs and memes over the following months.

On April 12th, 2024, X[1] user @NintendoGCN posted an edit of a man-on-the-street interview video in which a woman asks a man, "Backshots or a good career?" The man answers eloquently, saying he will "pass on the backshots" to "focus on himself and strive for a well-organized schedule that balances work and personal life." The post gained over 9,600 likes in four months (shown below). On April 15th, TikToker[2] @fartgamer1987 reuploaded the video, garnering over 200,000 views in the same span of time.

On May 9th, 2024, TikToker[3] @bucketz.z reuploaded the original video, garnering over 1.1 million views in three months. On June 19th, TikToker[4] @abzbakare posted a video lip dubbing to the sound under the caption, "when she's so bad that you lowkey wanna improve yourself," garnering over 950,000 views in two months (shown below).

On July 4th, a transcription of the audio was posted to the subreddit /r/copypasta,[5] garnering around 20 upvotes in a month. On July 28th, TikToker[6] @polybbiuss posted a video in which they lip dub to the audio, garnering over 2.5 million views in a month (shown below).
