On January 26th, 2024, TikTok^[1] user @s4y4_im0t uploaded a "POV" video showing himself acting as though he were a "basketball guy" at his school. The video received more than 3.1 million likes in three months (shown below).

On March 1st, 2024, Instagram^[2] user @yabegitulahaha uploaded the earliest edit of the clip, using a screenshot in which @s4y4_im0t imitates dribbling by adding the basketball emoticon and the caption "Bagas Dribble". The post received more than 38,000 likes in one month (shown below).

Spread

Starting in March 2024, the edit became a popular redraw and cosplay reference. For example, on March 3rd, 2024, Instagram^[3] user @f_zulvikar uploaded fan art of Hanamichi Sakuragi from Slam Dunk in the pose. The post received more than 18,000 likes in one month (shown below, left). On March 5th, 2024, Instagram^[4] user @fhanggap uploaded a photo of himself cosplaying Sakuragi by using @f_zulvikar's fan art as a reference. The post received more than 15,000 likes in one month (shown below, right).

On March 1st, 2024, Facebook^[5] user Dif Syahbana uploaded fan art of Laios from Delicious In Dungeon using the image as reference. The post received 1,200 reactions and 1,000 shares in one month (shown below, left). On March 5th, 2024, Twitter / X^[6] user @rotiyakisoba uploaded a piece of art that received more than 1,000 reposts and 4,300 likes in one month (shown below, right).
