Because I'm Foolish! also known as I Can't Read My Mail Because I'm Foolish, refers to a cartoon of a shirtless Black man rapping to his friend and repeatedly reiterating that he's "foolish." Lines include, "I can't read my mail because I'm foolish, no!" "I just got outta jail because I'm foolish! Bring it back!" and "I don't know how to act because I'm foolish," among others. The man is also seen swaying back and forth with his dreads moving while his friend watches from a doorway. The original video was a YouTube video posted by YouTuber FILNOBEP in 2013. The man is supposed to be rapper Chief Keef. The original video shows Keef rapping, "I can't read my mail 'cause I'm stupid! Bang bang!" The "foolish" iteration surfaced in 2024 after it was translating and dubbed using the AI voice tool ElevenLabs, then re-translated and re-dubbed back into English again using ElevenLabs. The video went viral and spread on Twitter / X in August and September 2024.
