Ber Months is a slang term referring to memes about the months of September, October, November and December, called the "ber months" because each month ends with the suffix "-ber." The earliest known meme to reference these four months as the ber months was a Success Kid meme posted as early as September 2012. The memes became increasingly popularized throughout the 2020s, often experiencing a boost in virality around the first of September each year, marking the beginning of the ber months.

Origin

On September 1st, 2012, WordPress^[1] user saychezzz made a post titled "'BER'ry CHRISTMAS." The article begins with a Success Kid meme reading, "Today marks the first day of the 'ber' season… Christmas!" The post reads, in part:

It’s a Saturday morning. Still, a weekend. Got up from bed, washed me face, brushed me teeth, grabbed a quick breakfast and then logged on to Facebook. Boom! Status updates about Christmas, Santa Claus, wish lists, December and even “Merry Christmas” greetings all came popping on my screen flooding my news feeds. And then it hit me, it’s the 1st of September. Yes, the very day that marks the beginning of the “BER” season. It shouldn’t really come as a surprise to me that this is one of the trending topics on Facebook and Twitter today.

Memes about the ber months became increasingly popularized in the 2020s as the term spread online.

For example, on September 5th, 2022, Redditor u/quatroverde posted a motivational poster by artist Debbie Kenyon showing a cat in a scarf ushering in the ber months to the /r/Diablo_2_Resurrected^[2] subreddit, garnering over 250 upvotes in three years.

In 2025, ber month memes saw a significant increase in virality on X and TikTok. On August 27th, 2025, X^[3] user @visualtherapy0 posted a meme visualizing each ber month, writing, "Are you ready for BER months?" garnering over 12,000 likes in a week.

On September 1st, 2025, X^[4] user @howlsbooks reposted the Debbie Kenyon cat poster meme, garnering over 73,000 likes in two days.

Later that day, X^[5] user @horseimage posted an image of two small horses wearing cozy sweaters, writing, "happy Ber months," garnering over 3,100 likes in two days.

Also on September 1st, TikToker^[6] @milyrose posted a video about the start of the ber months in which she prematurely gets ready for Christmas, garnering over 640,000 views in two days.

On September 2nd, 2025, X^[7] user @archer_uwu quoted the repost of the Debbie Kenyon cat meme, writing, "reached the mental age where I am liking posts like this and hoping to see more," garnering over 150,000 likes in a day.
