Origin

On November 11th, 2015, the YouTube^[1] channel Funny or Die uploaded a video titled "Big Bird Interns At Funny or Die," which shows Big Bird at the Funny or Die headquarters taking part in different parts of the creative process. The video, which earned over 382,000 views in nine years, featured several different scenes of Big Bird in the meeting for use in memes (shown below).

Spread

The image of Big Bird in the meeting started to be used as a meme format following its usage in a Bertstrips variant. On April 5th, 2019, Redditor u/The39thClause^[2] uploaded the image of Big Bird from the video while giving it a caption to correlate with Big Bird writing in his notebook (shown below).

Starting in 2020, the image began to be used as an image macro with different captions being applied to it for memes. On October 19th, 2020, the Redditor OkRoom9^[3] uploaded a variation of the image in which Big Bird was looking up and trying to pay attention, captioning it as what it feels like to have imposter syndrome while in a meeting, earning over 1,300 upvotes in three years (shown below).
