Bob-Omb Battlefield, also known as "That Bomb-omb's stage Series" (Japanese: ボム兵のとこシリーズ, Bomb Hei no Toko Series) in Japan, refers to a series of YouTube Poop Music Videos (YTPMVs) and MAD videos that samples a remixed version of a song with the same name in Nintendo's Mario games. This song has been a slightly well-used musical resource for those video parodies on YouTube and Japanese video sharing serivice Nico Nico Douga (NND) since 2012.

Origin

"Bob-Omb Battlefield" is the theme music for the 1st stage in Super Mario 64[1] released in 1996. As the representative track in that historical 3D platform game, this song has been arranged and included included in several subsequent Nintendo titles, and this video parody series is consisting of utilizing the remixed version in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games[2] (shown below, left). Meanwhile, the originator of this video parody series is a YouTube/NND user Ogachoko (おがちょこ).[3][4] His video packing dozens of his favorite visual resources into one movie was posted to both of video sharing service on February 8th, 2009 (shown below, right).[5][6]



Spread

The further spread of this series was brought by a famous YTPMV creator KinkyOats.[7] He submitted a response video to Ogacho's video on March 6th (shown below). Some users began submitting responses to KinkyOats' video under different titles, mainly referring to the song.[8] Then, by importing those YTPMVs, this song became to be sometimes utilized in MAD videos on NND.[9]
