Bumbo, or Señor Bumbo Cactoni, is a character created by Minecraft YouTuber Iskall85 in the popular Hermitcraft YouTube series. He is a cactus wearing a sombrero with a giant moustache. The character became popular in the series' fandom, leading other Minecraft players to create their own versions of the character.

Origin

On May 24th, 2017, user Iskall85 revealed Senor Bumbo Cactoni in a video on YouTube that gained over 779,000 views (shown below). The character is meant to be a representation of Mumbo Jumbo, another person in the Hermitcraft series.

Spread

After the character was introduced, the series revisited him in several videos. On July 19th, 2017, iskall85 posted a video about the character, gaining over 116,000 views (shown below, left). On November 17th, 2017, the Mumbo Jumbo channel posted a video looking inside the character, gaining over 306,000 views (shown below, right).

On September 23rd, 2017, the character was added to Urban Dictionary (shown below). ^[1] There is also a Wiki dedicated to the character and the myriad variations the Hermitcraft series has created.^[2] On Reddit,^[3] a list of the Bumbonis was posted to /r/HermitCraft on March 25th, 2018.
