About

2builders2tools, or 2b2t for short, is a Minecraft "anarchy" server with virtually no rules, no staff, and no chat filters (with the exception of game breaking anti-cheat for things like flight and super speed). The server is the second oldest running server in Minecraft. The current map has been active since December 2010 without a single reset. The server is hosted in Stockholm, Sweden before moving to New York. The server has gained over 205,000 players and is infamous for its community.

History

The server started around December of 2010.^[1] It was advertised by the original creators on places like 4chan and Facepunch.^[3] Early days on the server were known as the "Facepunch Era."^[1] The server started to gain a great amount of players as it started to be constantly spammed in 4chan boards such as /v/ and /b/. The influence of those players led to the popularization of terms like "newfag" and "oldfag" as well as the creation of swastikas in the server.^[2]

In August of 2013, 2b2t was featured in an IGN video,^[5] calling the server one of the 6 most amazing things in Minecraft. On June 1st, 2016, the server went into chaos after YouTuber TheCampingRusher made a video about 2b2t, gaining over 3 million views in four years (shown below). This would be the first in a series of videos about the server.

After Rusher's video was uploaded, thousands of his fans, known as "Rushers," tried to join to 2b2t, making the original community of 2b2t unable to play, drowning in the thousands he brought with him, and the queue which was added to prevent an overflow of players on the server. This would eventually lead to a conflict between the new and the old players. At first, it began with the Teamveteran Initiative. It was designed to appeal the new players into helping the community at spawn, as the oldfags were slowly losing ground to Rusher’s fans as well as more Minecraft YouTubers who stared invading 2b2t. In June 2016, YouTuber FitMC, a regular on the server, gained popularity from uploading videos^[6] about the Rushers.

On April 3rd, 2018, YouTuber AntVenom uploaded a video^[7] about 2b2t that inspired a wave of new players to join the server. FitMC killed AntVenom in a livestream^[8] on April 4th, causing his own channel to skyrocket in popularity.^[9] Soon after, FitMC began making videos dramatizing the server's lore and history. 2b2t also became popular among many YouTubers, such as the French YouTuber Fuze IlI.

Due to the revival of Minecraft in 2019 and FitMC's videos about the server's lore being picked up by YouTube's algorithm, 2b2t went viral again in May of that year.^[9] YouTubers from all over the world made videos on 2b2t, gaining millions of views in the process.

The Oldest Anarchy Server In Minecraft

In 2019, the catchphrase The Oldest Anarchy Server in Minecraft became synonymous with 2b2t as it was repeated by FitMC in several videos. On September 4th, 2019, YouTuber FrankieDeuce uploaded a six minute supercut of FitMC saying the phrase, receiving over 19,000 views in a year (shown below).

popbob

popbob is an infamous griefer and longtime user on 2b2t that has become the subject of various shitposts and memes both within and outside the 2b2t community.^[10] popbob's most recognized Minecraft skin is a trollface wearing a suit (shown below).

Factions

Factions are groups of players who have common goals on the server. They became a meme among many, as factions don't exist as a game feature on 2b2t and instead were made up by the community. They include:

Facepunch Republic – The Facepunch Republic was made of players from the Facepunch forums and was present during the first two years of the server.

Team Rusher – a large faction from 2016 with thousands of members who joined following YouTuber TheCampingRusher's video.

Vortex Coalition – A cult dedicated to memeing on the server.

Spawn Masons – Faction that takes the server seriously and is responsible to many structures in game.

Emperium – Old group from 2017 that has a significant presence within the server.
