About
Calcium Cannons is a slang term for a woman's large breasts given the amount of calcium it takes to make the fibers in breasts. It was first referenced on Twitter in 2012 but went viral on TikTok in 2022 as a prevalent spam comment related to hornyposting and thirst traps. Also, a TikToker named Ms. Calcium Cannons (@mscalciumcannons98) helped to make the term mainstream in late 2022 by posting public breastfeeding videos and sparking controversy and discourse on Twitter and elsewhere.
Origin
On October 31st, 2012, Twitter[1] user camdot8 tweeted, "Boobs=calcium cannons 😝😂," becoming the first known person to use the phrase online. The tweet received no likes despite being the first-known utterance (shown below).
Spread
On December 15th, 2015, a 4chan anon used "calcium cannons" in a thread on the /tg/[2] board. By 2019 and 2020, the term was used more often on Twitter[3][4] but still with minimal engagement. On October 1st, 2019, Redditor Nex_ZeroGravity posted a meme to /r/Memes [5] that referenced a skeleton character getting aroused by the term, earning over 50 upvotes in three years (shown below).
Starting in early 2022, the phrase became more commonplace. For instance, on February 26th, 2022, Twitter[6] user MyyneR6s tweeted, "what are calcium cannons," with a chat log image from the video game Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, earning over 130 likes in 10 months (shown below, left). On March 12th, the term was first added to Urban Dictionary [7] by the user Deeznuts710 (shown below, right).
Around the same time, some female TikTokers also started using "calcium cannons" to refer to their own breasts. For instance, on April 1st, 2022, TikToker[8] juiciestjade posted a video that joked about how "calcium cannons & stance cars do not mix well," earning roughly 33,900 plays and 3,000 likes in eight months (shown below, left). On April 9th, 2022, TikToker[9] linabear121 posted a video with a caption reading, "When they say stop posting your calcium cannons in every video," earning roughly 42,400 plays and 3,800 likes in eight months (shown below, right).

The phrase only earned more plays and likes going into 2022 on TikTok, such as in a video uploaded by TikToker[10] bunnyroseex on July 3rd, 2022, that received roughly 2.3 million plays and 166,900 likes in five months.
Ms. Calcium Cannons Breastfeeding
On November 5th, 2022, TikToker[11] mscalciumcannons98 posted her first video, showing herself breastfeeding her baby boy out in public at a grocery store, using a TikTok sound that said, "You gonna arrest me?" In one month, the video received roughly 161,600 plays and 3,200 likes. Her videos aimed to normalize breastfeeding in public and earned more engagement as time went on. For instance, a breastfeeding TikTok[12] she uploaded on November 19th, 2022, earned roughly 9.5 million plays and 159,200 likes in 13 days.
On December 1st, 2022, the New York Post published an article[13] and tweeted[14] about the backlash that Ms. Calcium Cannons was facing, earning roughly 1,100 likes in a day (shown below).
