Cedarthebarefoot's Gerblin Lemon Cake TikTok refers to a TikTok created by user Cedarthebarefoot in which they bake a lemon cake. Months after the video was first posted, it began spreading on Twitter as people pointed out many cringeworthy aspects of the video, such as the user's overly enthusiastic demeanor, their aggressively whimsical descriptions of the ingredients and directions and their referring to themself as a "gerblin."
Origin
On May 7th, 2021, TikToker Cedarthebarefoot posted a video in which they baked a lemon cake, showing the ingredients and directions as they went through the process. Their descriptions are highly wordy and whimsical, as they give directions like "wash your gerblin hands" and "prepare the firebox" (preheat the oven). They call butter sticks "rectangular prisms" and eggs "chimken balloons." They finish the video by saying "For the glory of the Gerblin Empire!" (shown below).

The video gained over 126,000 likes on the platform.
Spread
The video reached Twitter three months later, when on August 22nd, 2021, user @violentlyepic posted the video, gaining over 6,000 quote tweets and 6,300 likes (shown below). Her upload of the video gained over 2 million views in three days.

Over the following few days, Twitter users remarked on the multiple aspects of the video they found cringeworthy. User @JLessened[1] joked, "id fr rather be watching an isis beheading rn," gaining over 100 likes (shown below, left). User @roun_sa_ville[2] wrote, "I am absolutely racist against whatever kind of person this is," gaining over 960 retweets and 16,000 likes (shown below, right).
Others made jokes about the video's content. User @WillMenaker[3] posted, "Despite 20 years of aggressive noms, the Gerblin Empire has been forced to evacuate Afghanistan after leaving behind billions in sugar rocks and 'splody balloons," gaining over 80 retweets and 2,200 likes (shown below, left). User @MUD_MAN_PILLD[4] joked, "Call my bitch a gerblin way she zesting my sour boi," gaining over 750 retweets and 8,000 likes (shown below, right).
Some Twitter users noted that cedarthebarefoot had gone viral once before on Tumblr for showing off their dirty feet, as a result of being barefoot[5] (shown below).
