The Crazy Calzony is a combination of a pepperoni pizza and a calzone sold by the Little Caesars pizza chain. The Crazy Calzony inspired numerous photoshops following its announcement on the FoodBeast Twitter page joking about its shape, as well as reactions and reviews to it.

Origin

On August 16th, 2021, Little Caesars announced the Crazy Calzony on the FoodBeast Twitter,^[1] described as a fusion of a pepperoni pizza and a calzone (shown below). They also announced the item via the FoodBeast^[2] website, which describes it as "a whole pepperoni pizza in the middle, which is then adorned around the edges with a calzone-like crust that's filled with garlic white sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and sprinkled with parmesan cheese." The tweet gained over 5,600 likes and 4,300 retweets in two days.

Spread

The shape of the Crazy Calzony inspired Twitter^[4][5] users to photoshop it into numerous images and post them under the FoodBeast announcement tweet (examples shown below, left and right). Many of the photoshops imagine the Calzony as weaponry like throwing stars, and reference it alongside anime imagery.

The photoshops continued into August 17th as users kept finding new scenarios to add it to (examples shown below).

On August 17th, Nikocado Avocado posted a mukbang video eating the Crazy Calzony to his third YouTube^[3] channel, gaining over 35,000 views in a day (shown below).

On the same day, Twitter users began uploading videos showing what their Crazy Calzony's look like, comparing them to the ads with mixed results. For example, Twitter^[6] user @equimanthorn_ showed off a Crazy Calzony that didn't look like the ad, laughing at it in reaction (shown below).

Others had perfectly good-looking Crazy Calzony's, such as Twitter^[7] user @FeldyMNB (shown below).
