Dancing FBI Agent Shooting refers to a viral video of an off-duty FBI agent break dancing in a bar. When the agent performs a backflip, a gun falls from his person and fires, shooting a bystander. Online, people have reacted to and remixed the video for humorous effect.

Origin

On June 2nd, 2018, a Denver, Colorado-based reporter named Ryan Haarer shared a video[1] of an off-duty FBI agent dropping their gun and shooting a person. They captioned the post, "This @FBI agent was dancing at a Denver bar on Saturday night. Did a back flip, gun falls. He picks it up and a round is fired, hitting a man (he’ll be ok.) @DenverPolice investigating. #9News." Within two days, the tweet (shown below) received more than 24,000 retweets and 33,000 likes.

Hours later, the video was shared by Redditor [2] MMMAGA posted the video in the /r/PublicFreakout subreddit. The post received more than 3,800 points (94% upvoted) and 800 comments in 24 hours. Additionally, Redditor[7] Chester555 posted the video in the /r/HoldMyBeer and received more than 19,000 points (91% upvoted) and 1,300 comments in 24 hours.

The video elicited a series of reactions from people online, from people using it as a discussion about gun control to others making jokes about it. Twitter[3] user @adam22 tweeted, "LOCK. HIM. UP." The tweet (shown below, left) received more than 1,300 retweets and 5,200 likes in two days.

Twitter[4] user @SheaSerrano tweeted, "who stops a good guy with a gun though." The post (shown below, center) received more than 280 retweets and 1,600 likes in 48 hours.

Twitter[5] user @PeteBlackburn tweeted a joke from the television series Parks and Recreation. They said, "Burt Macklin, you son of a bitch." The post (shown below) received more than 490 retweets and 3,000 likes.
