David Lynch Refuses To Elaborate refers to an exploitable image macro and recaption meme taken from a 2007 BAFTA lecture series featuring American filmmaker David Lynch in a conversation with filmmaker Jason Barlow in which Lynch said, "Believe it or not, Eraserhead is my most spiritual film." On October 27th, 2007, David Lynch participated in the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) David Lean lecture series.[1] In a conversation with fellow filmmaker Jason Barlow, David Lynch said, "Believe it or not, Eraserhead is my most spiritual film." When Barlow asks him to "Elaborate on that," Lynch smiles and says, "No."

The lecture was reposted to YouTube[2] on May 26th, 2017, by the BAFTA Guru channel, where it gathered over 85,000 views in eight years. The quote appears at the 8:38 timestamp.

The earliest known meme featuring the interaction is an April 23rd, 2018, post to the subreddit /r/MemeEconomy[3] by an unknown Redditor, which shows Baby Boomers describing Millennials as "lazy and entitled" and then refusing to elaborate. The post gathered over 360 upvotes in seven years.
