Describe Using Titles (also known as Describe Using Quotes) is an online forum game in which participants are asked to describe various aspects of their lives using the titles of video games, books, films and television shows.

Origin

The earliest known forum game of this type was posted by PbNation Forums^[1] user Mon.Star on January 29th, 2008, when he asked viewers to "describe your sex life using a movie title" (shown below). Over the next six months, the post gained over 840 responses.

Spread

On June 21st, 2008, INTJForum^[3] member Malotis created another "describe your sex life using a movie title" thread, listing Alone in the Dark and Gone in 60 Seconds as examples. On December 21st, 2011, Nairaland^[4] Forums member martyns303 submited a thread titled "Describe Your 'ex' Using a Movie or TV Show Title," using Material Girl as the first example. On April 4th, 2012, Yelp Forums^[2] member Ivanka V. created a thread titled "Describe your last bowel movement using a movie titled," in which she started the game off with the film titles The Dark Knight and Too Fast Too Furious. On February 25th, 2014, Redditor pepsiguy24 submitted a post titled "How would you describe your sex life using a video game title?" to the /r/AskReddit^[5] subreddit, where it gained 1,000 votes (59% upvoted) and 1,400 comments prior to being archived. On April 16th, the "Describe Your Last Fart as a Movie Title" Tumblr^[7] blog was launched, highlighting notable answers to the forum game presented with customized graphics (shown below).
