About
Doug the Lawyer is a minor character that appears in the 2023 horror film Five Nights at Freddy's. A comic relief who appears constantly frightened and dominated by his client, Doug achieved virality in the Five Nights at Freddy's fandom following the film's premiere in late October 2023, becoming a subject of memes, fancams and reaction images.
Origin
On October 27th, 2023, the horror film Five Nights at Freddy's based on a video game franchise of the same name, premiered in the United States.[1] In the film, the minor character Doug, a lawyer who represents the character Aunt Jane (portrayed by actor Michael P. Sullivan) appears in two scenes. Doug appears to be completely terrified by Aunt Jane and meekly follows her orders (supercut shown below).

On October 28th, 2023, X[2] user @DevSprings posted a message to Bloomhousу Production and Universal Studios on behalf of the Five Nights at Freddy's, asking the studios to bring the character back for the sequel. The post (shown below) received over 2,100 reposts and 20,000 likes in two weeks.

Later on October 28th, 2023, X[3] user @FNaF_Funnies posted a Live X Reaction reaction image of Doug which received over 270 reposts and 2,400 likes and was widely circulated in the following days along with several remakes (shown below).
On October 28th, X[4] user @PeebloR posted a fancam of actor Michael P. Sullivan, who portrays Doug in the film. The fancam (shown below) garnered over 1,900 reposts and 12,000 likes in two weeks.

In the following weeks, more memes and reaction images of Doug the Lawyer went viral on X, TikTok and other social media. On November 6th, 2023, actor Michael P. Sullivan posted a TikTok[5] video in which he shouted out FNaF fans for showing him love and support (video shown below). Later that day, X[6] user @entom_dp posted the video, with the post gaining over 5,300 reposts and 34,000 likes in one day.
