Foxy, also known as Foxy the Pirate Fox, is an animatronic mascot^[1] character resembling an "anthropomorphic": fox in a pirate costume who is one of four antagonists in the 2014 point-and-click horror game Five Nights at Freddy's.

Origin

Five Nights at Freddy's was released on August 8th, 2014, which featured the enemy anthropomorphic fox animatronic Foxy. The character is equipped with a hook for his right hand and an eye patch that can be lifted up. During the game, Foxy may leave its position at the Pirate Cove to quickly rush the player's security office and end the game.

On August 12th, 2014, YouTuber Markiplier posted a Five Nights at Freddy's gameplay video which prominently featured the Foxy character rushing his security office and letting out a high-pitched scream (shown below).

On Aug 30th, YouTuber Foxy The Pirate Fox uploaded a video of a comic featuring Foxy, which gathered more than 1.7 million views and 11,000 likes in the next seven months (shown below, left). On November 10th, Five Nights at Freddy's 2 was released, in which Foxy returns in a more damaged animatronic suit. The game also features a genderbent version of Foxy called Mangle or Toy Foxy.^[3] On November 29th, YouTuber Vetario SFM uploaded a video featuring Foxy singing the song "You are a pirate"^[5] from the tv children show "Lazy Town" made using the Source FilmMaker software (shown below, right). In five months, the video gained upwards of 2.9 million views and 17,000 likes.

On December 30th, a remix of the song was uploaded by user NewBlu featuring a compilation of Foxy gifs and fanart, it gathered 529,534 views and 6,745 likes.(shown Below)
