About
Five Nights at Fuckboy's is a RPG maker video game series created by Sable Lynn and Joshua Shaw. In the games, set in Five Nights at Freddy's universe, the player controls douchey, alternate universe versions of Freddy Fazbear and his friends in order to have "a night of debauchery". The fangame has gained a following for its bizarre dialogue, crude humor, and elevated difficulty.
History
The game was first posted on Sable Lynn's tumblr account, currently closed, in December 2014.[8] According to her, she created the game with the question "How much could I fuck up Five Nights at Freddy's?".[1] Due the positive reception of the game, Lynn and Shaw released a sequel on December 25th, 2014.[9] Both games were released to the indie games site Game Jolt at March 10th, 2015.[10]
Three days later, on March 13th, 2015, a page for the third installment of the series was created on Game Jolt, being released on April 20th, 2015.[12] On February 28th, 2015, Lynn and Shaw released a Final Mix: version of the second game including features such as new bosses and new scenarios, on March 10th they released a Final Mix: Game of the Year version of the second game which fixed some bugs and added even more content, later that year on June 9th, 2015, Lynn and Shaw released a Final Mix version of the first game. A day later, on June 10th, 2015 Sable Lynn closed her Tumblr account due to constant harassment by Tumblr, Twitch and reddit users,[5] along with an undefined hiatus from the series.[12]
Online Relevance
On December 26th, 2014, YouTuber yamimash uploaded a gameplay of the game titled "Five Nights At Fuckboy's", gathering over 500,000 views under six months. Three months later, on April 3rd, 2015, YouTuber Markiplier uploaded the first of a series of videos of the series where he took shots of alcohol per episode, gaining over 4,500,000 views on two months.
The series has presence on pages like Tumblr[4] and 4chan.[3] On DeviantART, searching the keywords "Five Nights at Fuckboy's" will lead to over 300 results as of June 13th, 2015.[2] There is also a subreddit, created before February 20th, 2015 and with an unknown number of suscribers,[14] and a wiki dedicated to the series.[13]
Reception
The series has been critically acclaimed by the general community. Five Nights at Fuckboy's 1 received a 4.8/5 on its gamejolt page[15], Five Nights at Fuckboy's 2 also received a 4.8/5 on its gamejolt page[16], Five Nights at Fuckboy's 3 was the best received with a 4.9/5 on its gamejolt page[11].
Fan Games
Due to the cult following of the Five Nights at Fuckboy's series, there have been fangames using the same basic concept of crude humor, bizarre dialogue, and elevated difficulty whilst using alternate characters and scenarios. Freddy Fuckboy and friends even appear in some of these as well. Examples include "Super Fucking Mario Bros."[17] and "One Fucking Night at Flumpty's."[18]
