About

The Animatronic Characters Here Do Get A Bit Quirky At Night is a quote from the first Five Nights At Freddy's game spoken to the player character over the phone as a vague warning that the animatronics in the game come to life at night. The catchphrase became popularized as an exploitable in memes including video edits and image macros in early 2020, later becoming a lip-dub sound on TikTok in January 2021.

Origin

On August 8th, 2014, the first Five Nights at Freddy's was released. During the game's first night, the player character picks up a red phone and a nervous man warns the player, "Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night" while walking them through the job description, vaguely referencing how the animatronics come alive and become murderous at night (shown below).

"Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night, too. So remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children, and we need to show them a little respect, right?
