Springtrap is a violent animatronic resembling a large anthropomorphic rabbit which is the main antagonist of the jump scare horror game Five Nights at Freddy's 3.

Origin

On February 15th, 2015, YouTuber FusionZGamer uploaded a video about rumors that a new enemy in the upcoming game Five Nights at Freddy's 3 would be named "Springtrap" (shown below, left). On March 1st, YouTuber TCTNGaming uploaded Garry's Mod footage featuring a leaked 3D model of the Springtrap character (shown below, right).

On the following day, the third installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's video game series was released, which takes place 30 years after the events of the original Five Nights at Freddy's game at the horror-themed business "Fazbear's Fright." After the first night, a homicidal animatronic wearing a tattered rabbit suit named Springtrap is found, which the player must prevent from entering their security office to keep from being killed. During the course of the game, the player listens to cassette tapes and plays minigames providing information about the Springtrap suit's history.

On March 2nd, 2015, a page for Springtrap was created on the Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Wiki.^[1] On March 7th, YouTuber TCTNGaming uploaded a Garry's Mod video titled "The Springtrap Titan," including an enormous version of the Springtrap character model (shown below, left). The following day, YouTuber EnergeticShadow uploaded a Source Filmmaker video titled "The Misadventures of Springtrap – Episode 1," featuring animations of Springtrap and other Five Night at Freddy's characters (shown below, right).
