About

Dwerking, or to Dwerk, is a male alternative to twerking, which involves shaking one's penis in a rhythmic, thrusting dance motion. The term, a portmanteau of "twerk" and "dick," was coined on TikTok alongside the slang term deriod in early 2025. Dwerking videos spread en masse in July 2025. The videos were set to the Jersey Club song "Luxurious x Just Wanna Be Your Girl" by VIP, centering on the lyrics, "And I wonder if you even notice me," which originally comes from the song "Be Your Girl" by Teedra Moses. Dwerking videos then led to female variations like Pwerking and Bwerking.

Origin

On May 5th, 2025, TikToker^[1] @mojothewzzrd posted a video with the Sexyy Red song "Hoochie Coochie" and a POV caption about "dwerking at the function and a girl try to get in front like l'm easy or sum." Over two months, the video gained over 485,700 likes and is currently the first known use of the term online (shown below).

On May 6th, 2025, TikToker^[2] @burner_acc43 posted a similar video with the same Sexyy Red song. Its caption was about dwerking in the club and a random person trying to "throw it on you as if yo dihh cheap." Over two months, the video gained over 625,900 likes (shown below).

On June 5th, TikToker^[3] @vikes.vrc posted a video from VRChat of a character dwerking with a caption about it, gaining over 77,400 likes in a month (shown below).

On June 30th, 2025, TikToker^[4] @speaktoemv posted a video of himself dwerking with the caption, "How's my dwerk? I'm new," gaining over 105,700 likes in eight days (shown below).
