Dwight "Fuck" or Angela Scares Dwight refers to an exploitable object labeling meme depicting Dwight Schrute from The Office getting startled after turning around to see Angela Martin behind him, yelling "Fuck!" The scene first became the subject of memes on Reddit in mid-2018 in which Dwight and Angela are given various labels to describe something shocking or unexpected.

Origin

On March 25th, 2010, Season 6 Episode 21 of The Office, titled "Happy Hour," aired on TV. In one scene, Dwight, after talking and flirting with Pam's cousin Isabel, turns around to see Angela, which startles him, causing him to yell "Fuck!" (shown below).[1]



The earliest known use of the scene as a meme was posted to /r/dankmemes[2] on September 27th, 2018, with Dwight labeled "Me scrolling through my feed" and Angela labeled "Bowser hentai," garnering over 4,400 upvotes in five years (shown below). It is unclear if this is the first use of the format.

The format became increasingly popular over the following years. On November 4th, 2018, a version was posted to /r/funny[3] that gained over 14,000 upvotes in five years (shown below, left). On February 12th, 2019, a version was posted to /r/MemeEconomy[4] that gained over 20,000 upvotes in four years (shown below, right).

On December 19th, 2020, Tumblr[5] user tolerateit posted a version of the meme about how fast Christmas comes that garnered over 66,600 notes in three years (shown below).

On July 7th, Facebook[6] page The Office Memes posted a version of the meme about being a '90s kid, garnering over 15,000 reactions and 7,200 shares in three years (shown below, left). On May 20th, 2023, Tumblr[7] user chaossmith2 posted a version of the meme referencing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, garnering over 6,300 notes in four months (shown below, right).
