Overview

The Death of Henry Nowak occurred on December 3rd, 2025, when the 18-year-old British-Polish university student was fatally stabbed in Southampton, England. During an altercation, 23-year-old British Sikh man Vickrum Digwa cut and stabbed Nowak five times with a knife. When police arrived at the scene, Digwa accused Nowak of attacking him, leading officers to handcuff Nowak, who died shortly afterward from his injuries.

Before the stabbing, Nowak had recorded video footage of Digwa walking away during a verbal dispute. Digwa later claimed he acted in self-defense, alleging that Nowak had pursued him, made racist remarks and assaulted him, though prosecutors argued these claims were fabricated to justify the attack.

On May 28th, 2026, a jury convicted Digwa of murder, while his mother, Kiran Kaur, was found guilty of assisting an offender. Body camera footage recorded by responding officers later went viral on social media platforms, including X / Twitter, where it sparked widespread discourse and heated debates.

Background

The incident occurred on December 3rd, 2025, when 18-year-old University of Southampton student Henry Nowak was walking back to his accommodation after a night out in Southampton, England. According to Vickrum Digwa, a 23-year-old Sikh man, the two encountered one another on a pavement when Nowak bumped into him. A verbal altercation followed.[9]

Digwa claimed that Nowak racially abused him, punched him, knocked his hair out of his turban and grabbed it, causing him to fear that his kirpan, a ceremonial Sikh blade he was carrying, would be used against him. During the confrontation, Digwa used the kirpan to stab and cut Nowak five times, including wounds to the backs of his legs and a fatal wound to the chest.[1]

After being stabbed, Nowak reportedly attempted to flee by climbing over a fence. When police arrived at the scene, they initially handcuffed him before discovering the severity of his injuries. Nowak died a short time later.[9]

Digwa reportedly did not tell officers that he had stabbed Nowak, later stating that he was scared. Following the incident, Digwa's mother was accused of removing the weapon from the scene.[2]

Bodycam Footage Released

On May 31st, 2026, X[5] owner and billionaire Elon Musk publicly called for the officer's bodycam footage to be released on his official account, writing, "Release the footage, you evil bastards!" accompanied by a screenshot of a now deleted post from the Hampshire Police X account (@HantsPolice), which some perceived as shirking responsibility for the treatment and lack of medical administered to Nowak on the scene. The post received 13.9 million views and 377,000 likes in about three days.

Elon Musk @elonmusk Release the footage, you evil bastards! Post Hampshire Police @HantsPolice X.com Our officers were misled at the scene, including denial of weapon use. They quickly switched to life-saving aid within minutes but, as laid out in our statement, the medical evidence shows that the injuries were not survivable. A very sad case, our thoughts are with his family. *Readers added context Claim HP "misled, incl denial of weapon use" is misleading. Henry stated: "I've been stabbed, I can't breathe." Officer replied "I don't think so, mate" before cuffing him as he bled out. Victim's words dismissed. No suspensions. Bodycam still withheld. Also that day, a thread on the /r/AskBrits[11] subreddit asking, "Why is the Henry Nowak case considered a right wing issue?" received over 510 upvotes and 1,200 comments in 18 hours, with the top-voted answer from Redditor Drakonistes stating:

Because it proves the point that British institutions are so paralyzed by allegations of racism that they will abandon basic procedural logic.

The moment the police established there was a brawl, standard procedure dictated that everyone involved should be detained to keep people from fleeing. Instead, they applied that rule asymmetricly: they left the fully mobile suspect completely free to walk away, while handcuffing an 18-year-old kid who was bleeding out on the ground and begging for help.

The only differing variable that caused the police to treat a dying victim as the primary threat was a bare, unverified accusation of racial abuse from the attacker. The left ignores this because it exposes how easily institutions can be manipulated by weaponizing identity, turning a clear-cut case of police negligence into a catastrophic failure of basic humanity.

Content creators and streamers also discussed the viral story in early June 2026, such as Twitch and Kick streamer Asmongold, who posted a video to his clips channel on YouTube, titled "We finally know the truth," which garnered over a million views, 77,000 likes and 20,500 comments in 17 hours.
