About
Gameoverse is a 2026 animated pilot produced by Glitch Productions and written by Ross O'Donovan and Arin Hanson. The pilot follows Kit, a cat girl who travels across the "Gameoverse," a multiverse of video game worlds, to try and stop each game's hero from defeating the villain, because defeating the villain causes the annihilation of the game world.
The pilot was released on May 15th, 2026, and is based on a series of shorts released on YouTube in 2013 by Ross O'Donovan. In the days after the pilot was released, it received largely positive reviews online, including praise for its visual style and concept. It received some criticism online, mostly on X, for its use of so-called "therapy speak" and for featuring the female characters in revealing clothing too often. The pilot also inspired memes and fan art, including fan art that pits it against the animated pilot Planetronika, which was released around the same time.
History
2013 Miniseries
In 2009, Ross O'Donovan created a four-episode miniseries titled Gameoverse, in which a dinosaur named Gobbles and a dolphin named Flappers were taken from their respective games to save the "Gameoverse" along with a skater named Kit. The series was posted to YouTube[1] in 2013.
