Overview

The Halifax Mass Shooting Plot was a failed mass shooting plot thwarted by authorities in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in mid-February 2015.

Background

On February 12th, 2015, the Crime Stoppers program delivered a tip to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) a mass shooting was being planned at the Halifax Shopping Centre by three people, including Randall Shepherd, James Gamble and Lindsay Souvannarath. The following day, police discovered Gamble deceased in his home from a self-inflicted gunshot. Meanwhile, Souvannarath and Shepherd were arrested at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. According to authorities, the suspects met each other on Tumblr and were planning on killing as many people as possible in public before committing suicide. Shepherd and Souvannarath were subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit arson, illegal possession of weapons and making threats on social media.

On February 15th, 2015, a thread about Souvannarath was created on Kiwi Farms,^[2] noting that her online handle on DeviantArt was HackerOnHacker, her Kiwi Farms name was Heretics on Holiday and her Know Your Meme profile was Hyperborea Odyssea Hackeron.

On February 28th, 2016, a page for Souvannarath was created on the Lolcow Wiki.^[1]

2018 Sentencing Hearing

On April 18th, 2018, The Star Halifax^[4] reported that Souvannarath's suicide note was presented at her sentencing hearing earlier that week. Meanwhile, the New Westminster Record^[3] reported that a report was presented during the sentencing by a lead investigator, who noted that the suspects believed they are reincarnations of the 1999 Columbine High School shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.
