About

Nathan Fielder vs. Paramount Plus, also known as Nathan For You Paramount+ Episode Removal Controversy, refers to memes and discussions about an episode of Nathan Fielder's show The Rehearsal in which he depicts the streaming service Paramount+ (which owns the rights to his Comedy Central series Nathan For You) by using heavy Nazi Germany symbolism after the network removed an episode of Nathan For You from the platform due to antisemitism concerns. In 2015, during season three of the show, Fielder, who is Jewish, created the brand Summit Ice Apparel as a nonprofit jacket company promoting Holocaust education and raised over $150,000 by 2017. Paramount+ Germany initially removed the episode from its platform in late 2023, soon after the Israel-Hamas Conflict broke out, which then led to its removal across all other regions. The depiction of Paramount in The Rehearsal, which was reportedly unknown to the brand until it aired, quickly went viral and received widespread media coverage in late April 2025.

Origin

On October 22nd, 2015, Comedy Central aired the Season 3 Episode 2 of Nathan for You, titled "Horseback Riding / Man Zone," featuring Nathan Fielder launching Summit Ice Apparel, a nonprofit jacket brand promoting Holocaust education.[1] The brand was created after discovering that Taiga, a real jacket company Fielder had worn, once praised a Holocaust denier (Doug Collins).[2]

According to Entertainment Weekly,[3] Summit Ice became a real business and educational initiative after the show, raising over $150,000 for Holocaust education by 2017.

The segment can be seen in a clip posted to the official Comedy Central YouTube[4] channel on December 6th, 2022.

According to Variety,[5] Paramount+ removed the episode from its German platform in late 2023, citing sensitivities following the Israel-Hamas conflict. The removal later expanded globally.

On April 27th, 2025, Fielder addressed the issue in The Rehearsal Season 2, Episode 2, titled "Star Potential." He staged a fictional reality show called "Wings of Voice," judged exclusively by airline pilots. The satirical setup culminated in a confrontation with a fake Paramount exec in a Nazi-style war room, meant to depict the offices of Paramount+ Germany.

Redditor /u/holyfruits posted a YouTube[11] video showing the relevant clip from The Rehearsal on April 28th, 2025, to the subreddit[6] /r/videos, gathering over 1,900 upvotes in a day.

X user @ethanshanfeld shared several images from Nathan Fielder's _The Rehearsal_, showing how he recreated his interactions with Paramount+ and compared them to the Nazi Party.

Also on April 27th, X[8] user @Phil_Lewis_ posted a segment from a 60 Minutes episode in which host Scott Pelley calls out Paramount for contributing to Executive Producer Bill Owens's abrupt resignation from the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter,[9] the long-time producer cited excessive interference from Paramount as the reason for his exit earlier in April 2025.

Other internet users reacted to the news about the controversy with Paramount as it continued to garner attention, with X[10] user @jonathanmb32 writing, "The Paramount Teams chats must be going *off* today," on April 28th, and gathering over 14,000 likes in a day.
