About

Sidneuke Distracted Driving Dog Hit Controversy refers to Polish Twitch streamer sidneuke seemingly hitting a dog (or another animal) while looking at her phone and texting in the car. The moment was caught on her livestream in February 2023 and led to her getting banned on Twitch. Viral discourse and memes about her running over the animal ensued online, such as on Twitter, where many spoke about her purportedly saying, "Jesus how many dogs are there," moments before the accident.

History

On February 17th, 2023, the Twitter[1] account @thepolandnews_ tweeted a video that was a clip from Twitch[2] streamer sidneuke's then-recent stream in which she was driving in a car. In the clip, she's seen looking down at her phone, purportedly checking the Twitch chat, when she hits something in the road. What sounds like an animal whimpering can then be heard as she exits the vehicle. The video received roughly 57,300 views and 2,000 likes in less than a day (shown below).

Later on February 17th, 2023, the clip was posted to Reddit's /r/LivestreamFail[3] and the story was covered by the news outlet Dexerto,[4] which additionally posted its own tweet[5] about the event, earning roughly 19,600 likes in less than a day (shown below). Dexerto alleged that sidneuke was checking her Twitch chat during the moment and also that her account had been suspended for an unknown amount of time.

Also on February 17th, 2023, Polish-speaking Twitter[7] user @GreenO1337 tweeted, "How can you say 'Jesus how many dogs are there' and then take out your phone while driving? They should cut their hands off for this behavior," along with the video, gaining roughly 5,100 likes in less than a day (shown below).

Jak można powiedzieć "Jezus ile tu psów" a potem wyjąć telefon za kierownicą? Za takie zachowanie powinni ucinać ręcę

In response to Twitter[7] user @GreenO1337, Twitter[8] user @birtek95 added another video to the thread that was allegedly a clip that directly followed sidneuke hitting the animal on stream. Twitter[8] user @birtek95 captioned the video, "In general, her justification after the action is also a nice outpouring," earning over 80 likes in less than a day (shown below).
