Overview

Ukraine's Kharkiv Region Offensive refers to a successful counteroffensive in late 2022 performed by the Ukrainian military on Russian troops in the Kharkiv Oblast region amid the ongoing 2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine was able to take back or recapture the Kharkiv region, alluding to the momentum of the war shifting to Ukraine's favor as well as establishing a victory for Ukraine.

History

When the Russian troops invaded Ukraine in late February 2022, they specifically targeted the Eastern city of Kharkiv where Russian forces briefly took control in the last week of February 2022.[1]
